I’m very pleased to be a part of this challenge.  I will be sporting my Bassett Trim Single.

Looks like this is shaping up to be a good challenge.

I do have a few qualifiers - Boker Tech Tool, Leatherman T4 and Aitor Gran Capitan.  It could also be a good excuse to try out an armbar. But I will have to think about it.

I would go for the Aitor myself. I wasn't super impressed with the T-series when I carried it for this challenge last year, the Bokers seem to be universally meh'd when other people carry them. I've only carried my Aitor short term, but it's seemed like a nice little tool when I have.

The Aitor is a good quality tool, although it is heavier than manyand no scissors.  The Boker is actually pretty good.  The scissors aren’t as nice as SAKs, but I haven’t found any tool that is as good.  The T4 isn’t that bad.  I like it when my arthritis in my hands is bothering my because of the opening, although otherwise I hate clumping of tools.  I also have a small Ruike which is kind of nice.

I have a Ruike 31 and it’s a good knife.   I recommend it as an SAK Classic SD alternative

I've been eyeing the Ruike's debating if I "need" it in my collection.

The Ruike 31 has better steel than the Classic SD.  It’s slightly larger and doesn’t have a toothpick or tweezers.  It does have a nice combo tool that can cut a seatbelt.

Wonder if this one will count?

Ordered a blue Boeing Classic SD direct from their own merchandise page ($25, vs. $20 on eBay used), and decided I'd throw this one in. For $8, why not? Besides, might as well get a knife I will use (Classic's going straight in the collection), alongside a folding key organizer.

Not just the nail clippers--I was also drawn to the flat in-line Phillips.

I have an S31 and agree it is nice.  I am actually considering the M31, which is closer to a the size of a 91mm SAK

Red one has diamond file instead regular file, other off brand  one is copy of SwissChamp then there is T4 & Armbar. I may have somewhere copy of Spartan too but didnt yet find it.

That's a beautiful looking Aitor!

Glad to have along Gary!

Only 7 more days before the challenge kicks off!  Get your SAK-A-Likes, cleaned, honed, and oiled!  Unless you're like me and forget about it till the last minute.

Day 1

A genuine (or is it original) Swiss Army something next to a non-Swiss copy cat.  Come to think of it, the wanna be looks an awful lot like my old Boy Sprout knife.  Except for the funky can opener.  I did notice it is a lot heavier.  Tools on this thing are made out of 3mm thick stock.  Might need to take a photo or three.  Best wishes G
