Hey Gordon, did you fill in the lettering on your Bond with a blue pen, or is that just an optical delusion?  Best wishes.  G

The Blue looks good on the Stainless.

I have always had a credibility problem.  I like to tell the truth, but for some reason nobody ever believes me if I do.  On the other hand, a fibrication is always as good as a sworn affidavit.
Like last Friday at the local flea market.  I saw a fellow with some mixed items that he was taking out of a pillow case.  Forks and spoons, a radio, nothing interesting.  Then I saw what looked like a Leatherman.  It was.  I casually picked it up and politely asked, "Nice weather we been having lately.  How much is this piece of junk?"  He looked around a little and whispered, "Gimme 20 bucks?"
I saw he was open to negotiation, so I said, "Waal, I don't know about that.  Sounds a little steep."  Then I took my time and opened up the thingies and looked it over.  I was about to say I would give him 10 for it, when I saw his eyes bug out a little.  He stuffed everything on the table into his pillow case and took off down the bank behind the flea market.  I turned around and saw a county vehicle pull into a parking slot.
Then I thought a little.  If I tell the uniformed official from the car that I was just looking at the tool and suddenly the owner just took off, he would never believe me.  I couldn't just drop it in the dirt and walk away.  What if pillow case man came back and wondered where his pretty went to?  I decided the best thing to do was to retain custody until title to the item could be sorted out.  At some later date.
Best wishes.  G   [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

That's a good one.  Unfortunately, it would have likely gotten me a night on a sweaty mattress with no blanket and a microwaved TV dinner.  And a roommate who snored and smelled like a still.

Of course, the whole story was swamp gas.  Our friend Gordon borrowed one of my photos, and he said I could borrow one of his photos in return.  That is one of his Bonds in the photo.  Best wishes.  G

I did say nobody would believe me if I told the truth.  That was one of your Bonds, Gordon.  It was on a pasteboard box.  I changed the background and re-oriented it.  Best wishes.  G

Somehow a genuine Bond turned up at the IMR residence on Werecoyote Drive.  A brown Amazon box containing said item was tossed into a patch of poison ivy at the foot of my driveway.  Presumably, the delivery driver didn't like the contours of my rustic drive.  A wise decision.
Here are the contents.  Nice, new Bond with sheath.  This one looks quite a bit like my home-made Bond, but the tools are a little different.  Reminds me of the PST that my pal Lee used to have.  He saw the test for one of these in Soldier of Fortune magazine and ordered one from an ad on the spot.  First one I ever saw, and maybe the first one in the county.
I like the Bond.  A big thank you to whoever sent it.  Best wishes.  G

A sheath too!  The big controversy on social media these days.

Looks like Gen 2 model too!

Lucky you…

Thanks guys.  I like the thing.  I am a little concerned that someone will come and tap quietly on my door and peep in a window.  Possibly a young appearing woman with long black hair and a necklace made out of gold coins strung together.  I fear she will say something like, "Hi. I'm your neighbor.  I call myself Phoenix.  Do you know anything about a box that might have been delivered to you by mistake?  Maybe last Saturday?"
Then I will have to tell her truthfully that I have no idea what she is talking about.  I am pleased to meet her, of course, and would stay and talk except I am peeling garlic for a delicious bowl of garlic and egg noodles.  I am going to put in some grated romano cheese, and hope I have enough salt.  Since I spilled most of my salt accidentally in front of my door and on the window sills.  And around my bed.  She is welcome to look around my mailbox and charming driveway to see if she can locate a box.  Just watch out for the poison ivy.
Best wishes,
Garlic....ah, Gary

How can you tell it’s a second generation model?

I thought the only difference was the shape of the blade tip.

I’m surviving with my first gen, and hoping there’s a Bond II with combo blade and scissors on the way.

It is a Gen2 with the blade tip turned down.  Friend Gordon was probably going by the date that I received it.  I'm not sure if there is any other way to tell.  What do I know.?   Best wishes.  G

From Gary’s picture of the tool laying out.

On the handle, one side has two holes tapped for the pocket clip.

On the opposite side, the handle holding the blade has a square hole near the end.  That indicates a first gen model. It is a standoff to keep the blade edge from bottoming out when closed.

Stay here long enough and I learn a few things.  Square hole means Gen 1.  It does have the two tapped holes for a pocket clip.  Didn't come with a clip, which saved me the trouble of taking it off.
It came dry as a bone, which could indicate a severe lubricating oil shortage in Oregon.  Nice and stiff too, which was expected.  I dribbled a few drips of synthetic lube on it and worked it a little.  Not so reluctant to open now.  I am having fun piddling with it.
I would have liked to run a weedwacker a little today.  I picked up a few branches that were scattered across the lawn.  That took so much zip out of me I figured running my Stihl would likely end in a fatality.  Or worse, IMR lying on the lawn somewhere still alive waiting for the coyotes to come and dine at night.  Brrrrr.  I did drive my Cub some and mowed a half an acre or a little more.  No real effort required for that.
Best wishes.  G

From having said your COVID TEST was negative, and how ill you reported, two days not leaving the house.

And, then today NYtimes report COVID CASES ON THE RISE, I wager you had Covid my friend.

DoNOT OVER DO IT.

My BONDs and REBARs always arrived dry and tight.

I have  3 within reach right now, the 2 gen2s are like new and needed dabs if KPL

The 3rd a gen1, the blade is loose, so much side to side play, inside the handle and out, I believe it will make warranty trip to Oregon in the near future.

On the auction site,  have been lucky getting these for about half off, not including shipping.   Great gifts, or an extra tool for different corners on the homestead indoors😉

A new to me BOND arrived today.

This one will be assigned to a pocket slip to start, to easily extract it from the sleeve, I deployed the lanyard loop, (next to the file) and added a colorful zipper pull.
