SwissCard ID holder
on: June 13, 2025, 01:46:15 PM
Has anyone ever seen (or made/modded) a SwissCard or similar flat multitool that can hold an ID card? I'd imagine that a huge number of people wear ID badges on a lanyard or shirt pocket clip, but having a few little tools hidden inside could be a really cool thing to add to your EDC. I'm not talking about your laser-cut stainless thing with a million cutouts and notches that claim to be useful, I mean something that holds removable tools like scissors, tweezers, pen etc.

I suppose I could just get a SwissCard and hope it fits into the card slot on my current cheapo ID holder, but I reckon it's too thick. Plus I'd have to take the card out to get to any of the tools. Maybe just glue one to the other...?

There are stick on card holders to fit on the back of your phone that should fit on the Swiss Card as well.

Sounds like it would be less trouble to just mod an ID holder.  The only ID I have is a driver's license, and gluing that wouldn't be a good idea.  I have had a couple of credit card type multis.  No Victorinox.  I'm not a fan of the things.  They are better than the jagged metal ones.  If I found one of those lying on the ground, I would probably pick it up.  Just to keep someone from running over it and damaging a tire.  No way would I carry one.
Do you have a regular EDC knife or one-piece tool?
Best wishes.  G

I know this probably ain't the answer you're looking for, but I'd make one out of leather and clear plastic. One piece of leather would have the plastic glued on for ID visibility, and the the other would hold the SwissCard. Between those two would be a third piece, slightly taller, with a hole for the neck lanyard's hook.

Perhaps the second one, 'cause it envolves leather working.

Back in the day I used to attend various conferences. They would typically spend part of their budget on various gizmos to give attendees. These would aim for some actual use both there and later and usually had big branding logos. Pens, notebooks, stickers, cups, backpacks, attaché cases, branded snacks, all the above and what not. Quality from smurfing great from real quality brands to what I can only assume were factory rejects found in some dumpster and printed on by the local kindergarden.

And always a nametag. Thus a nametag with some branding space and interesting extras could possibly fit into that market - I certainly have been gifted far worse things!
