Help, Grant held me hostage.
on: November 06, 2025, 06:36:04 PM
Name is Robert, I'm retired Infantry. Live in NS Canada.

Not sure why after 2 decades of knowing Grant, I never joined his forum. But here I am. Met Grant decades ago on another Canadian forum.

I do have multitools. Mainly SAK and Gerber. I abuse Gerbers MP600 like a red headed step child. Not sure how many I broke in my boring military service.

Living in the country, multi tools are a must and nobody bats an eye when you pull it out.

Well glad to be here.

Welcome aboard! When did you serve? Gerbers were a favorite of my fellow Sailors (I served between 2000 and 2006) due to the flickable pliers.

That sounds like me when I was a kid. By the time I joined the Navy, I treated my knives and multis much better. I did, however, have to fill out broken tool reports for a feeler gauge (its blades rusted before anyone got a chance to use it) and an inspection mirror that got knocked off an engine crate.

I still broke them. My MP400 isn't as smooth, as I bent it trying to smash a window rescuing them from an accident.

Haven't found a comfortable way of carrying it. Not a fan of it on my belt, digs into me, or flopping on my leg. Often just leave it in the car now and just carry a SAK Compact.

I’m not going to comment on this except to point out that he used to live a couple of blocks from me, then when he finished school he immediately moved as far way as he could without leaving the province.

Micah didn’t just leave the country, go moved to another continent.

Seeing a trend?   :pok:

Yeah, living in the city sucks.

But where I moved is great. Because guess who bought a camp closer to me now?

Yeah, living in the city sucks.
:iagree: I did take a step in the right direction when I moved from Michigan's largest city to one whose population is significantly lower.

I suppose it's not a good time to point out that as soon as I bought a camp up that way you moved an hour further away from that too?   :D

Low blow I know, I couldn't help it!  You can punch me for that the next time I see you.   :tu:

Nah have to laugh. That ordeal is almost over.

For context as nobody knows, My oil tank premature failed, oil contaminated my well and went under my house. That was back in March and it's been a nightmare. In June they forced us to find a rental, and in July we moved. Only place that would take the dogs, was 3K a month (poorly renovated and not just a landlord special, like not even done), well that was 45mins away from my current place. But the insurance wouldn't accept a 12month lease, so they settled for a 6 month at double the cost. So total of 6K per month.

But NS had a drought so well drilling was delayed, the company that was drilling a new well, lost their truck, my wife lost her job, one of her brothers, father has lung cancer. Dog almost lost a eye.. Totally fun year.

Waiting on a filter system for my well, and then we could move back, except mice took over and destroyed our house. So another delay.

But technically I'm 45mins closer than the original move.
