Blind River (again)
on: November 07, 2025, 09:16:01 AM
It's 4am and Megan and I are sitting in the airport in Halifax, waiting for the first of two flights to take us to my father's house.

We've rented a car, so once we get to Sudbury we won't have to bum a ride from the airport with my brother or his family like we usually do.   :D

It's always good to go home!  I'm looking forward to doing very little but flying drones with my dad, bombing around on the ATV and just having a great time.

Thanks!

We've made it to Toronto just in time to find out that our connecting flight is delayed by a couple of hours.

Luckily we are renting a car and so there is no one waiting for us on the other side.

We will do our best!

After a lengthy delay of several hours we are about to board flight #2.

Then pick up a rental car and a 2 hour drive home.

It's a short trip and a long day at the same time!   :ahhh

Now you see why last year we just drove the whole way....

Driving aint bad if you have a co pilot to drive. Im trying to plan a trip to Ottawa area for a shoot. But figured be about 4 days of traveling for something I could do in 16 hrs. But I cannot do the whole 16 hours non stop anymore. So have to break it up into 2 days each way.

Well after many delays in Toronto, we are finally at my father's place.

It's been a long bloody day and I hope to still be awake when my brother gets here in an hour or so!   :ahhh

I've been having a great time with my family, and Megan had a fun adventure in the local town of Elliot Lake.

Yesterday my brother and I flew drones (DJI Neos) around the yard and my brother was more adventurous than usual with me flying alongside as his wingman.  I'll post some video shortly.  :D

Today we woke up to snow.

I doubt it will stay long, but stranger things have happened.  Snow in November is not uncommon around here, as I'm sure Chako will attest.

Snow in Nov isnt uncommon for even us. We all remember snow suits under our Halloween costumes.

Hope we have a winter like last year. Just snow and hardly much rain.

There was some snow on parked cars and the grass outside my place a few minutes ago. Luckily it hasn't accumulated on roads or driveways just yet. It's pretty unusual to see such accumulation this early in November around here, at least in my experience.

Sorry for the late reply...snow in November is usually expected.

Happy to hear you both made it safe and sound.  :salute:

We were at the pawn shop on Queen Street today- not much there, but then we headed off to Perry's and I snagged a new old stock CRKT Ashworth Turtle still in the box.  I felt bad poaching on your turf, but it's probably been there for years.  I keep telling myself that you had ample opportunity to get it!

Have you visited Great Lakes Outfitters on 162 old Garden River road? I am overdue for a visit there but sometimes they carry interesting items.

Have you also visited HiWay Variety Outfitters on 25 Trunk road? I go here more often because there is another pawn shop in the same building.

Unfortunately we didn't get to too many places as we were a bit pressed for time.  We started out later than anticipated and my nephew stopped by so we didn't stick around long.

We went to the art gallery, the pawn shop on Queen, Perry's and then one of the grocery stores (Pino's or something?) and then came back here.
