Leatherman SuperTool Score
on: December 04, 2025, 07:35:06 PM
I managed to pick up an original SuperTool last week.  I haven't had much of a chance to look at it until today.

For $50 I think it is a pretty good score- it's not perfect, but with a little cleaning I think it would make a nice EDC.

It didn't come with a sheath, and there are a couple of problems- the plan blade was snapped off at the top, so I'll either have to find a new blade or grind it into a different shape.

The eyeglass screwdriver is also a bit twisted, but I may be able to straighten that out a bit.

Still, not a bad deal IMHO.  What do you think?   :D

For a thirty year old tool I feel like it's in good shape.

It's a bit floppy, but the pliers don't suffer from having been damaged by cutting something they shouldn't have, as many old tools do.

All in all, not bad, and it's got the old Patent Pending stamp too!

I can't quite make out the date code on the opposite handle, but I'll keep trying!

Hey, Congrats on the new to you tool. Looks to be a great user EDC candidate. I would just sharpen the plain blade and use it as is. After a few sessions with the stones, I bet the tip will be back. Sometimes it is harder to leave things alone rather than go to the quick fix. Good luck with straightening the eyeglass driver. I checked my parts stash for you, but unfortunately, I don’t have any ST or ST200 spare parts left or I would send them your way. Looking forward to seeing this one put into action.

Good score, I would also just sharpen the main blade and maybe add bit more of a swedge to lower the tip.

:iagree: The snapped blade tip isn't anything insurmountable, and I'm cautiously optimistic that the fine screwdriver can be straightened out. Not too shabby for the price you gave! :tu:

I agree.  I think they're the toughest of the Super Tool family!

Very cool find, but BlindFarmer just posted that he also recently found one for the extraordinary price of $5.00.

I know, I know.  It's not a competition, but BlindFarmer wins!  In any case, I'm very happy for both of you.  :hatsoff:

Awesome find for 50$ Grant :like:
I would reshapen blade tip with grinder and use hammer to straighten small screwdriver.

I just saw and replied to that thread!  He is the hands down "winner" for sure!   :D

My score definitely seems less impressive in comparison, but I think it just goes to show how incredible his was!
