Thank you!

Got the toothpick project done.  Just snipped the cord with Classic scissors, then burned the snipped edge for a couple of seconds to prevent fraying.

The result seen below.

Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

Not at all.  There is a lot of evidence, including epidemiological and double-blind studies, that sunlight is powerful medicine for the body's mitochondria.  Latitudes that lose seasonal sunlight first are also the first to get seasonal flu, covid, etc.  Patients with covid have shorter hospital stays, exhibit improved oxygen saturation, etc., when exposed to even brief amounts of infrared light - which we experience as the heat from the sun.  Dr. Roger Seheult - a quadruple certified critical care physician - says it far better than I do, so I've linked it below.  Cardiac mortality and all cause mortality are inverse proportional to sunlight exposure.

I try to get 15 - 30 minutes of sunlight per day, even in winter.   This is an amount shown to provide measurable benefits to hospitalized covid patients.  When I can't because of weather or other reasons, I sit in front of the fireplace (that heat is IR radiation) and now will occasionally use that infrared emitter.  It is a medical grade emitter.

I know it may sound a little wonky.  But the evidence says what the evidence says, and I'm going with that.  Good times.  Rock on.

Thanks for the info, based on what I’ve been reading it doesn’t sound wonky. I’ve just started using a red and near-infrared light box to see if it helps with some neck issues I’ve been having. There is evidence to suggest it helps with that, and the cost of entry is a lot less than surgery.

One thing I miss with Alox scales is the toothpick.

I will need to make a lanyard like the one I made for my Midnite MiniChamp (seen below), that will hold a toothpick.

That is a fantastic idea!

You are genius!

Being an observer of this thread has proofed to be time well spent and WE are only on day three! :woohoo:

It has also come with a cost 🫣

From the start I became mesmerized by the ALOX and other scales that dress up CLASSICS.   So I started scouting around, and that led to seller offers after Christmas on two themed models, and then a make an offer on a ALOX model. An then a there was another seller special.

Four new additional CLASSICS-

The fourth purchase is this luvly SNAKE SKIN print, the detail is very good.

And the four together-

Carry on, I will now practice restraint as post holiday bargains will try to be ignored😏

I think I should consider one of those infrared emitters, especially if they help with low vitamin D. Whether I could get by with only a Classic is doubtful, as I like having cap lifting capability. Y'awl are doing a great job!

Day 4

The last variant of steel scaled Classic I own, and for sure the most elegant- the one and only Broker.

Used for a nail care - I definitely prefer the pointy file for that vs the SD version.

It's actually a 1985 model, my second SAK.  I lost it in a box for decades, and found it while looking for something else.  You can still get a non SD Classic as far as I know. It makes a great Philips head SD in a pinch  :D .

I inspected my older CLASSICs last night before retiring, and I found one! :tu:

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I do not ever recall carrying this Classic, it appears unused.  I either received as a gift, or picked out of a bucket at a knife/gun show, a 5 for twenty, deal.

My other one, I know I bought had the SD file and I wore part of the Victorinox emblem off that it lifted, and I removed, as it was pinned into the Celidor. That may get new scales of some variety.     Micarta?
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!
