4. An early one- interesting day ahead. Probably only basic boring tasks when you see this.

Powernoodle Day 5

Opening cat sand.  The 10 lb. bags are easier to sling than the giant tubs.

Nice entries everyone!

Day 5, I think I'm going for a different Classic every day in this challenge, why not?

I was happy to find this California (my home State) railway Classic a few years ago.

Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

Day 5: Unboxing some supplies.  It's the day to day tasks that the Classic is so good at.

I got my Huntsman a couple of years before this knife was gifted to me.  At the time, I was so accustomed to the larger knife and its tool set that I rarely carry this one.  I worked in retail then, and used the small blade if the Huntsman to open boxes.  Looking back, this knife might have been the one to carry.

I needed to free up some hose clamps and fittings from a couple of zip ties this morning. I don’t want to cut them, so I used the SD tip on the file to unlock the zip ties. It actually worked rather well, through the tiny screwdriver on the Micra is still king when it comes to recycling zip ties.

I'm curious, and I wonder how many of you doing this challenge, will be permanently affected in your choice of everyday carry? Like, how many will realize just how under estimated the little classic, and the 58mm's in general are?

Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

that's a good question, and really what made me want to do the challenge.  I really don't know if it will change my carry, as the weight/hassle penalty of carrying my pioneer is so small.  That being said, who knows?

I do know that if I switch over to a 58mm exclusive carry, it won't be the classic, but the Rambler.  The issue for me with the 58mm isn't usually the small blade, its the small handle.  With the rambler I can extend the combo tool to give a better grip when using the knife, which I like quite a bit.  The real unknown for me is the driver capability.  I do use the opener layer on the pioneer reasonably frequently, so that alone may keep it in the pocket.

For me, I already know a 58mm will handle 90% of the tasks I deal with outside of work. But, like gustophersmob, I'd likely go with a Rambler over the Classic. That phillips driver/opener really puts it over the top.

In an ideal world, I'd be able to get a 74mm sized knife with the Rambler toolset, and I could really be done buying knives recreationally after that.

For my day to day carry, post retirement, the 58 covers about everything that I need in an EDC.  I'm really liking carrying the Classic on this neck lanyard!

The last variant of steel scaled Classic I own, and for sure the most elegant- the one and only Broker.
:like: I think that one made a stopover with me before completing a Transatlantic journey.

I inspected my older CLASSICs last night before retiring, and I found one! :tu:
I have a Classic (non-SD type) that has been re-scaled. I'll share a photo at a date TBD.

I remember finding this SwissAir Classic on eBay and was happy it had the original box.
Way too cool! :tu:

I switched him out today, but nothing for him to do.
Sweet! I would like a Rambler with those scales.

The Classic with my pocket steel and  the iMini2 Olight that was gifted to me by my best friend. :)
My sharpening skills are so lacking that I never thought of carrying a pocket steel. Nice setup!

Y'awl are doing great!

LOL

I have done that many times.  Opening bills with any of my pocket knifes would always get me the look 🥺. Miss that look very often😢
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!
