ROXON S504G Mini Version of Flex Companion OVERVIEW

Decided to get one of those, looking for an alternative to a 58mm Alox, for keychain.

This has the D2 blade and comes with one extra tool, a file/ruler/screwdriver

The construction feels solid and the handle is comfortable and grippy.

Operation is fine, the tools pop out all together and you select the one you want.

The main tools lock with a lockback system and the screwdriver bit holder with a linerlock.

The main tools lock open or closed, using a small lever in the handles.

Tool exchange is OK, not very easy, but you will figure it out.

The tools, especially the blade, have a bit of play. Think victorinox locking tools, where the blade is locked but moves a bit up and down.

There is no dedicated keychain attachment but the clip has a hole in it that can be used to attach it to the keychain.

Cost around 40 Euro, so not cheap but reasonable. Definitely an upgrade from the really cheap Chinese made multitools.

Size similar to a 91mm Victorinox,

Claw can opener, small scissors, package opener. Looks like I'm getting one too.

I removed the package opener and replaced it with the, included, ruler/file/screwdriver.
My thought was that I already had a blade and the can opener, if I wanted to open clamshell packages.

I'll put the mini scissors in my Flex MT, and that will free up a slot for the long file. And I'll test the claw opener as well. I'm loving the cross compatibility of all these.

Hey, maybe a small MT is in the future? A Juice-sized Flex MT?

Being old skool, I have never really gotten energized about MTs with replaceable tools.

But if you keep posting sweet pics like that, I may get drawn back in like Michael Corleone in Godfather III.

An MT with replaceable tools is a pretty good marketing strategery, because you buy the basic MT and then want to start throwing more Rupees at Roxon to get accessory blades and drivers. And Roxon knows that MTO Legends will want to keep switching and swapping in search of the perfect combo - which doesn't exist.
Brilliant!

So yeah, the Mini Flex Companion is now on my short list.

This is my first, well apart from various SOG, tool with exchangeable parts (as far as I remember).

For most of us that have a few multitools this may not make much sense as I most likely have the tool set that I need, somewhere.

The way I see it is that I selected the tool with most of what I wanted, exchanged one part with another, that was supplied, and do not see myself changing any tools any time soon. It will be useful if you needed to go bladeless on certain days which I do not.

The selection of tools they have is not very interesting, for me, and this being the small sized model limits the choice. I wanted something small, so I am not unhappy about it, but, for the ability to select from a larger pool of tools the bigger model will be better.
I have been carrying it for a couple of day and it is a fun and small tool. I have used the scissors, the blade and the file, and they all work very well.

I have been using the combo bottle/can opener frequently.
It works OK, but always punctures the bottle cap.
The scissors work well too and so do the blade, toothpick and file.
