Bucket List Models
on: January 30, 2026, 05:48:40 AM
I thought it would be a cool idea to post some of our bucket list models. Perhaps members lucky enough to be in possession of one of these bucket list items from someone's list can post photos of them for us to drool over/finally take the plunge and buy one of them. For me, in no particular order, they'd be:

1. Damast Swisschamp
2. Scientist (or perhaps a custom 'Scientist Wrench' that has a universal wrench in place of the magnifying glass)
3. Seaman (or really any model with one of those built-into-the-scale marlinspike/awl/reamer things
4. Trail Guide
5. Special Mechanic

Bonus:
6. La Marzocco Victorinox or Nespresso Victorinox (since I drink Nespresso espressos like they're a medical necessity)
7. Master Electrician (I'm not sure whether this model was ever 'officially' released by Victorinox, hence its inclusion as a bonus)

P.S. Mods if this is the incorrect place for such a post, please move or delete.

Edited to add: I searched the forum but did not find a thread like this.

Great idea this!
I've got a fairly long wanted list. I think the Dutch air force Master Craftsman is my grail SAK. With 91mm alox scales!

Special Mechanic... is that the same model as the Yeoman Mechanic? I used to have one. The Heuliez version on SAKWiki used to be mine and I kind of regret selling it to Nick :)

@Tuisto, I have a Scientist that is surplus to requirements -- drop me a PM if you're interested.

@charlie fox, I think an Alox Bantam plus scissors would be a Voyageur, so although rare it wouldn't be impossible to find one.

The Nespresso Pioneers are out there too.  In fact, the last few I've seen for sale don't seem to be fetching outrageously high prices.

I had 2 on my list

*Birth year soldier (already got it)
*passenger (haven't got one yet and the ones I have found are kinda pricey for right now)

I have been thinking about making a passenger but I think that will be like getting the a medal for showing up while an original will be first prize

I could probably think of more if given enough time, but two that really jump at me are the Dual Pro X and a 93mm with the marlinespike/sacking needle.

Since it seems a bunch of people have the Damast Pioneer 2010 on their bucket list and I hoped that people would post photos of other people's grail SAKs, here are some photos of my 2010 Pioneer. Anyone have a Scientist (lookin' at you, Mr. Myron!) or a La Marzocco (or any of the other models) that they could post photos of?

It makes me happy to see a user damast pioneer  :dd:

If I remember correctly, Myron’s is a user, too

If I ever happen upon a damast pioneer, it will be put into use immediately. It would be my EDC probably for the rest of my life.

Yes, this guy is certainly a user. I bought it new from a 'gentleman's store' near my grandma's house in Toronto in 2011 as a reward for myself for something school-related. I don't think that store's there anymore but I immediately began carrying this thing. It was my daily user for about two years before I went back to my dad's Swisschamp (which has since been replaced by my Warthog SC). I still carry it every now and again. But I think as I've aged a bit I've really come to appreciate the scale tools that come with the 91mm models (not to mention backside tools).

I just saw this! The Special Mechanic is like a Compact but with the pliers instead of the shears. It's a really cool model that I've always been on the lookout for.

And, how do you learn about the Nespresso releases? Colors are always interesting.

Hey LoopCutter,

The Nespresso Pioneer LE's are done, unfortunately.  For four years, 2016-19, Victorinox was Nespresso's re-use partner for their recycled aluminum capsules.  The colors of the Pioneers correspond to Nespresso coffee varieties.  After 2019, Nespresso changed re-use partners and made an arrangement with a Swedish bicycle company (if memory serves) who used the spent capsules to make bicycle frames.

A lot of good ones listed!  I’m in the market for a Scientist, Yeoman, and 111mm Outdoor Tool.  I really want that one!    Any spares laying around out there!

One of my bucket listers was a Mountaineer Lite, but I finally found one last summer. I’m so happy to have it.

These are sold. Fun fact: the 93mm awl actually interferes with the outer liner when opened, bending the liner and scale. I was really surprised that model passed QC. I can't find the pics I took showing that (minor) issue.

Good luck I hope you'll find one. It's a cool an unusual SAK.

It sort of makes me wonder why Vic never made the 111 pin hole standard. This model has one and so does the Garant (although in two different orientations, apparently). I was also wondering — if anyone knows — does the Trail Guide only come with the older, kevlar files? Or were any ever made with the newer-type files? I don't know why I love that model so much. I smoked for many years, but that model pre-dated my smoking by a few years. I did, however, manage to get one of the new topographical map Marlboro models with my points. And it makes me wonder whether they'll ever have another collaboration, since those aren't available anymore and no Vics have seemingly replaced them. But that's probably a good thing; smoking is terrible for one's health.
