Seriously, Victorinox should buy them ! "You see, the Spirit doesn't attract fingerprints in the real world !"

Keeping my swisstools clean is a Sisyphean task, I usually carry a microfiber cloth with me and that does the trick

Recently I added a pocket clip to my Spirit X and MXBS, I noticed that the pliers don't fully close on their own, there is a millimetre gap that remains. I can still easily close the pliers on my own with very little force, but I was wondering if that is a common trait or is that just a bad pocket clip that I got.

Happens on the Spirit S, Spirit X, and the MXBS that I have

I only have clip on my MXBS, it closes fully!
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Fully closes on my Spirit X, Victorinox did a great job designing this clip!  :tu:

Do have pictures you can share that demonstrate what you describe.

Examining my MXBS, the only Spirit with a clip, the screw head mounted inside the handle comes the closest to the plier heads when the handles folded close.  And it appears there is a 1/16” or more of a gap before contact.

The clip itself never comes close to the plier heads.

The other possibility is if the tab you screw the clip is bent inward.    Or, you have a non Victorinox clip and the alternative has a larger screw head.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

This is what it looks like to me, the pocket clip arm hits the handle and there is a gap in the plier, takes like no force at all to close but it wont close fully on its own

Thank you.

There me a small difference between either plier tips, or handle shapes.

This is picture of my MXBS with handles closed and tips touching. No extra effort to bring together.

Try mounting on the other handle’s bracket!

I should probably send my Spirit for blade replacement since its really worn out. I sharpened it way too much, tho blade is still sharp.

That you should! 😘

It is thin at the point.   The blades are not large to begin with, considering the handle size.

Yours looks very nice.  I always consider mine a work of art when I use and continue to be amazed that everytime I put it back in the sheath after wiping down from the grease or dirt and even mud, it looks nearly new.

:iagree: I do too Gordon.  Somewhere I saw it said that the regular Swiss Tool is the Volvo of multi tools, and the Spirit the Ferrari.  They're gorgeous!

One of the perks is you can reprofile the blade, maybe go for a nice wharncliff shape

Doing that would result in an even shorter blade, not gaining any benefit.   Even loosing the needed nail Nick to extract the blade.

I always find it curious how much empty space there was in the spirit and how much bigger they could have made the tools.

A small saw makes sense, since it lessens the chance to bind up. The blade is curiously small, the one handed opening blades seem smaller than the two handed blades. The file is also smaller than one would expect

I mean one benefit would be not having to send it in

Also a nail nick is a problem that a dremal could address

That is a good point, not sending it via post with chance of parcel being misplaced.

Yet the tool does have a quality support team behind it, and the owner is on the same continent as Victorinox’s home base.

This is a good example, of the advantage of STROPPING VIC’s steel, instead of stones with grit that remove material quicker.

My MXBS’s blade is smaller, the only disappointment with the tool.    I consider myself a newbie as SAKS are concerned, observing the same components are utilized over and over across so many models.

Thank you for sharing your observations, the file and saw  particularly!

With my MXBS I actually put a steeper angle on that knife, I think mine is around 15 degrees, find its really good at slicing.
