Well, thanks to my family, this Christmas finds me joining the Spirit club.  :D

What a nice compact MT! Very slick, and some unique tools. Not as perfect as i'd expected; I suppose my expectations were too high.

But this is a really cool multi, and I can see it easily being an all time favorite.

Paired with my OH Sentinel.. And my stainless Maratac AA light... Talk about a winning EDC combo that has class! Soooooo shiny!

I don't know.  Once you start using the tool some you might find that it exceeds even your original expectations.

Sounds like you have a good edc setup.

Oh, don't get me wrong here, it is a superb multi. I love it.

When I say it is less than perfect, I mean in terms of "fit and finish". From what I have read here, I expected utter perfection. This was not the case at all in reality.

My Spirit has a blemished plier head. A rough spot that was either damaged after production, or never finished properly to begin with.

The handles do not line up on the end opposite the plier pivot when closed. One handle is ever so slightly twisted.

The Phillips driver is indeed soft (which I actually did expect). It is marred after one use.. Tightening a screw on a guitar tuner of all things.

But...

As I said, the soft Phillips was expected. Though I admit I didn't think a guitar tuner screw would damage it, honestly.

The other issues are really no big deal. For me it just means that Leatherman and Vic are more similar in terms of QC and fit/finish than reading this board would have you believe.

I am very satisfied with my Spirit. Just as I am with my ST200, 300, Surge, and as i was my Gerber Multiplier and Pro Scout.

Perfect? No. But no MT yet has been perfect. Not in my opinion.

Oh, without a doubt! I'm sure my Spirit will rust down to nothing by this Thursday.

I'll be testing it later this afternoon.. I'm gonna see if it can cut rebar if I drive my truck over the handles. If it breaks, I'll post a bad review of it and send it in under warranty.

Done it... Once so far... Both ST Spirit an SwissChamp (took pen, tweezer, toothpick and small screwdriver out btw.), it went excellent. Just putted it with regular dishes, and took them out shiny and clean, as new... Some lubricant, and that's all... When they get dirty I'll wash them again... No problems.

careful putting cellidor scales in the dishwasher, to hot a wash and they can warp.

The wash temp certainly make a difference. My dishwasher is with 3 programs 1. cold wash (rinse) / 2. 50C and 3. 65C... They went on prog. #3 or 65 degree celsius. Now that I've read article on SOSAK I must say they (as in SC scales) felt a bit flimsy after taking them out, but after they cooled nothing... They are just like they were before (only cleaner) ;)

when the liners heat up too much, they expand, and bend outwards on the pins, bending the scales with them. That's why the dishwasher at a high temperature can ruin scales. I had something similar when I left my compact out in the sun, the liners arched outwards making the scales a bit warped.

okay people i hate to breath life into this debate again but i am beginning to NOT like the spirit sheath.  the velcro gets full of lint and seems to catch on every doorway i pass through. maybe im spoiled with my SURGE! sheath but i really like the way LM designed theirs to be able to mount on a belt sideways, seems so much easier to whip out when needed. sorry victorinox... love the tool, hate the sheath

The Spirit fits very nicely in the LM Wave nylon sheath.  And that sheath will carry vertically and horizontally just like the Surge sheath.
I bought a standard Spirit about 18 months ago. Almost afraid to carry it. I like it so much. But I've carried a Vic Champion for over 20 years and I'm concerned the Spirit may knock my old friend out of it's spot.  :D
Yeah, you right...

Every Spirit I've ever seen has a Vic Icon . The earlier Swisstools had VICTORINOX stamped on them . Must be fairly recent then

Even my 2010 Road Tour Spirit has a Vic icon on it (on one side only, like all the others I've seen)

Thought I'd include these images here for easier reference in the future.  Spirit-S Black-Oxide after 11+ months of EDC. I'm a
relatively light user of the tool, as I also EDC a SAK(s) and like to use the right tool for the job.

I don't like the sheath that much either.
But the tools is so perfect I don't care.
I can't find one thing wrong with it and I can't find that in ANY other multitool. I'm very picky.

I own the oxide black.

All of my victorinox stuff is top notch.

Victorinox should make a small pliers multitool (compair to squirt and juice in size) but the quality of my victorinox spirit. =)
