Have you considered not touching the sharp bit?  :D

Yeah those Artifact blades are damn sharp aren't they.

Considered it, dismissed it. ;)

I did it whilst opening and closing the blade whilst watching TV. Pressed the liner lock down, but the blade is stiff being new and there's not a great deal of "handle" to get a grip. Didn't get my finger out of the way quick enough -> ouch!
I used to come here a lot.

The blades are standard X-Acto type blades that can be found at almost any hardware or hobby store.

Like it or hate it, I think the Artifact is an interesting tool, just for the fact that this thread has hit seven pages, remained more or less on topic, has survived for months and keeps getting brought back up.

If there was an Oscars for multitools, the Artifact would have to get the award for most Travolta Like Comeback!

A few people, including myself, wrote Gerber asking that they make the Shard available for sale.

Gerber told me that they were considering making it available for a limited time via their website. They specifically said that it was due to the email requests, and that they were hoping to offer it very soon.

That was almost a month ago. I hope that Gerber is still working on it, but a few more emails couldn't hurt. It only takes a few seconds...  :pok: :pok: :D

I really liked my artifact but it was mean to me!

It is strictly a right handed tool and I learnt after slicing two fingers that I am a left handed tool

Imagine the Artifact opening up in your pocket......instant do it yourself vasectomy. Or on a less amusing note....hitting your femoral artery. Ever see Black Hawk Down when that guy got shot there? Game over man game over.

Ooh yeah, big ouchy. I think you're good for about 10 minutes once stuck in the femoral then it's off to the great multitool heaven.

Fortunately the Artifact isn't likely to open accidentally in your pocket, or anywhere else.

Fair point. It's fine now actually now I have some respect for it :D I was just cutting some rubber matting with it, and was actually quite grateful that it is tricky to open! No blood at all this time
