This is my father's Buck 110 which he has given to me. He estimates that he got it in Texas somewhere around '77-'80, but he's not sure. I remember him using (abusing) the hell out of this thing when I was a young feller watching dad do things that dads do. I am certain by the shape of the tip that it must have broken off at some point (prying, scraping.) This thing has no cutting edge at all, it is completely smooth and dull. I plan on restoring the wood, brass and blade at some point and I'll dedicate a thread to that. I hope to pass it down to my son some day.

Great knife,great story,congratulations.

It's referred to as 2dot 110,because of a dot on each side of the 110 designation. It  was manufactured during the years your dad said he purchased it,1974-1982.

You can send it back Buck and they will refinish and sharpen it.

I enjoy doing that type of work myself, just to keep myself out of trouble.LOL

Very cool !  I would just give it a light cleaning and sharpen it. That knife has character that tells a story. It would be a shame to lose that by polishing it all away.  Just my 2 cents  worth   ;)

To answer the original question -

I used to own a Buck 110.  It seems to be part of our shared history, and that's part of the reason I got one.

At one point when I needed to scale down, and get some cash, I sold a lot of lockback knives that I had, and the Buck 110 went away.  At the time, I had collected quite a few Bucks due to brand loyalty (at the time). However, I made the decision that while it was part of our shared history, it wasn't exactly part of my personal history. Besides, I misplaced my two favorite Bucks already.

All I kept in the Lockback category was a Camillus and a Bucklite without a nail nick  .  the Camillus had some nostalgia attached to it and the Bucklite seemed more practical for backpacking.

I'm happy with my decision to be quite honest.  I still like the look of the Buck 110, but it just isn't practical for me any more.

Recently acquired this venerable oldie (no-dot version from 1972-1974) which had a rounded point, no edge, and a handle filled with crud.
Cleaned everything with tootpicks, an old tootbrush with diluted detergent, and lastly an ultrasonic cleaner, polished the brass, then reground the blade by hand on wet & dry paper with WD40 as a lubricant.
The new convex edge measures ~25 degrees inclusive and there is a new point too.

Specs:

Length open: 21,8 cm
Length closed: 12,3 cm
Blade length: 9,5 cm
Blade thickness: 3,0 mm
Blade grind: semi-hollow convex
Edge angle: ~25 degrees inclusive
Steel: 440C stainless
Hardness: ~60 HRC (estimate based on regrinding/sharpening)
Locktype: Backlock
Handle material: Solid brass with Makassar Ebony inlays
Weight: 194,9 grams
Belt sheath: Leather

I wish I could but I have gone thru the storage unit like 3 times and must have gifted to a family member or they have it without me knowing
The main reason I didn’t carry it was just to big and heavy which is the reason I will be going with the Slim Pro.
