I've given up drinking !

Yep never thought this would happen  :o Its not a total ban but its not far off . I've had about two pints in the last two weeks . Been cutting down since Christmas and on New Years Eve I only had two small bottles of beer. This is from someone who drank nearly everyday and could sink vast amounts of beer and rum  >:D Half a bottle of Rum and four or five pints of strong ale wasn't a problem of an evening  :o

Funny thing is , I'm not finding it hard  :think:

congrats, I think  :think:

I rather enjoy a few beers a day... but have contemplated reducing to weekends etc... it's just that a nice cold beer goes down so nice after work!
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

Well done mate, i gave up 10 years ago as it dont have a good effect on me and 5 years before that i got into big trouble due to being drunk, so i only have the occasional Guinness, i avoid spirits like the plague , keep it up dunc as will save you money and think of the extra things you could buy  ;)

The trouble was with drink and me was it never made me violent or aggressive just more loud , funnier and confident . If something bad happened I needed a drink and if something good happened I needed a drink as well . I think if I'd carried on I would have had a real problem .Changes in my life now have left very little room for alcohol and long may it continue .

Hell some of my posts may even make sense now  :rofl:

It probably made sense to cut down from those sort of levels Dunc - it would have found you out in the end!

Well done mate - you'll probably find that you enjoy the fewer pints you do have now far more too as a bonus  :cheers:

Yes I could do with loosing a little weight but I've given up smoking ( 21 months ago ) and now drinking ,  I aint giving up chocolate  :drool:

Funny the only time I drink is in the Summer on the weekends. I have the camp and that is really the only place I do it. I like to give my liver the winter off. But hey good for you!!

I was totally dry myself for a few years, and now drink very occasionally. It certainly did me some good and I'm sure you'll feel the same.

Good on ya Dunc!

While I doubt I'll ever give up drinking (I like beer and wine) I rarely have more than 4-5 in a given week.  Usually only 3-4, and that's usually only with a meal or after work.  A bottle of rum will last me several months, as I'll only have the odd rum & coke while relaxing.  I see far too many "power drinkers" at the bar every night that pound back drinks one after the other, only broken up by trips outside for a smoke, and all I can think of is that I wish I had their extra time and money!  :D

The funny thing is I still go to the pub twice a week with my friends but drink coke , so I'm not missing out socially.

I drank daily for most of my life. Then I realized I had a problem. With the help of AA I quit for 6 years. I now can drink occasionally and only rarely do I drink more than a few.

 I applaud you.

I'll bet your family appreciates the decreased decibels.

I quit drinking 10 years ago and do not miss it at all. I did like to drink and drank alot everyday for many years. I finally came to a place where I decided I wanted other things in life more than drinking so drinking had to go to get there. Dunc I bid you Godspeed buddy.
