Anyone know any information on this tool?
on: February 11, 2010, 02:25:58 PM
Its a Craftsman Professional multitool...very much like the Schrade Tough Tool.  I cannot find any information on this on the internet.  Help?

Thanks!

It was made by Schrade and is a variant of the Tough Tool.

I'm sure Bob will be along shortly to give you all the info you could ever want on it!  :D

Schrade produced them with the Craftsman name stamped on them?
Appreciate the help!

Yeah- when a company like Sears wants something like that they just buy someone else's and put their name on it rather than go to the effort of developing one of their own.

Do you know if they are rare at all?  I can't find anything about it on the web...

That I'm not sure about- I'm not as well versed in the various incarnations of Schrade tools.  I do know that some folks have had an interest in that particular variant over the years, although I don't believe there is any specific collector value to it.  It's a curiosity, although not something that everyone "must have."

If I had to guess, I'd say mid-late 90's, and just about all the info you are going to find on it is here at Multitool.org since we seem to be the only people in the world that give a rat's bum about tools like that!

From what I learned on this forum in my short stay, the tool was produced in three variants with the Shrade branding.  I found a great review on the forum about them and learned all I would want to know about them.  I'll look around to see if I can find a link to the review.

It's probably in that link I posted above, which leads to the Multitool Encyclopedia, a Wikipedia kind of thing about multitools... :D

I think I may have read that thread...it shows the different series versions from Schrade right?  I didn't see anything about them making them for Craftsman though.  I'm listing this on ebay and don't quite know how to describe it...lol!

Listing it on eBay?  When there are a number of members here would would likely be interested in it?   :pok:

Damn...I already listed it, but was trying to hone down the description.  I'd be more than happy to post things here, but problem for me is....I'm pretty ignorant on these things (though this place is helping me learn) and don't know what kind of value to put on them.  From what I understand, its bad etiquette to post and just things up for the highest bidder right?  :D

I don't want to break any rules, but also don't want to undersell things that may be valuable, you know?

It is a Sears Craftsman version of the Schrade ST5.  It's too large, heavy, and I didn't care for the modular screwdriver bits as much as dedicated blades (as found in the original LM tools).  I posted another photo a few years ago then sold mine to another forum member.

Thanks!

Let me think about that.  I want to jump and say, "Yes," because it's Craftsman, and I'm a Craftsman fanboy, but I just blew $30 on a T-shirt and...well...you know...haven't gotten around to planting my money trees yet because of the cold snap here in the states.  But am thinking.

hehe, I was just joking around.  Didn't think you'd actually take me seriously.   I'm not sure if I can do anything now that the auction is already listed...?

Oh, leave it going.  I will bid if it doesn't shoot up above $35.  I'm just going to wait and watch a couple of days.

I don't think you do, but they should be more than a dollar, unless you were adding on a bunch of extras; i.e. photos, bold print, top of the listing, etc.  Most of my postings are only around 15 cents some are free.
