I guess it may be worth being very clear with them that it’s only the blade you want replacing not anything else or you could end up with essentially a new knife…I’ve seen some very thorough refreshes back from Vic so just thought it was worth mentioning….should look great though and I believe they often  send the old bits back too…might be worth asking them
to do that too though to b sure. €18 is a fantastic service charge.

I will do that, thanks  :salute:

Hi Folks,

got some Alox goodness to fill out the gaps in the collection:

  • Pioneer orange
  • Cadet orange
  • Cadet "cognac" (faux orange)
  • Cadet special (see next post)

The "Cadet Special" is a Cadet X! A dream knife for sure for some members here.

Got it from a modder on the bay who used a black "Sharpknife Club Cadet" as a base and added some 91 mm scissors. These got a half-stop, and, what could I say, what a snap!

There's always some point to complain a bit. While some members here get rid of the keyring nub on their cadets, I'd rather have one for fobs or lanyards. Not here on that knife, alas. But that point aside, I'm rather happy with my Cadet X.  :2tu:

Seriously nice Cadets.  That mod is perfect.  One question.  When Wolfgang gets up every morning.  Yawns.  Looks outside.  Grumbles.  Makes his morning frown.  Puts on his trousers.  What knife goes in the pocket?  Is it a SAK?  Traditional folder?  No knife at all?  Best wishes.  Gary

Nice guess, Gary. :tu: As I'm working alternate shifts, the morning routine differs: at late shift I rise with my SO in the morning and make breakfast for her. At early shift she does the same for me.

The knives in my pockets: my regular EDC knife is my SwissChampXL, riding in its belt pouch on my jeans. The coin pocket holds a Spyderco C169 ClipiTool Scissors, which is substituded for a different knife when we're out in the forests for mushroom hunting. This could be a Benchmade mini-bugout in don't-lose-me orange, a Benchmade Bugout in blue, a Spyderco Delica with ZDP-189 blade, or one of my Vic Solos.

The side pocket of my bag contains a Vic executive (my favorite tool for nailcare) and a non-branded beater knife for work. Clipped on the compression strap sits a Byrd serrated hawkbill blade that's very useful at work for cutting lashings and ropes. The back pocket of my bag is home for a Leatherman Surge (old style) with a Skeletool and bit set. Plus a Böker M-type - you need some backups, don't you?  ;)

Oh, on my keychain there's a utilikey, sometimes a Spyderco Roadie or a Mini-Police. Not to forget my wallet with aTool Logic card (finger knife and scissors).

 :climber:

So you see I'm not a mere collector, I'm a user too (with some back-ups). And I haven't just started about my flashlights...
Best regards and stay safe,

Wolfgang

Now that you mention it, Wolfgang.  I have a Tool-Logic card somewhere?  Now I'm going to have to find it.  I had two and swapped one off for a Case trapper.  It sounds like no matter where you reach, you will have some kind of tool.  I think lots of people on here do the same.  Best wishes and good to hear from you.  Gary

I'm loving all these SAKs!

And then you start talking about ToolLogic cards. Got this from my son in 2015.

Sorry for breaking the rules and posting this.

Well, they do look like a SwissCard.  A little.  I looked for mine a while, then said, "Why bother."  It will turn up whenever it wants.  Or not.  Did you ever notice how the compass spins around when you pull the knife blade in and out?  Give it a try.  Best wishes.  Gary

Cadet cognac - is that the cadet that shouldn’t exist? The ones where the orange color went wrong on the 5 colors series

I’ve got one too if so….do like a cadet and cadet x

Yes, that's the one. Point 8 in the "variations" section of the SAKWiki-article. Not well to see in my pic, but the tang stamp is Victorinox with big "V".  :hatsoff:

Picked up a gently used Infinite Grey Classic SD from their precious alox collection.
Don't even know it's there when wearing shorts.

I like the basketweave pattern.  The picture makes it look like sterling.  Alox is more easily maintained of course.  Good one.  Best wishes.  Gary

I like the Classic. So easy to carry, yet so useful.

But that basket weave Alox is amazing! That should be worn on the outside of your pocket for the world to see!

I should attached it to something else and have it dangle outside my pocket, good suggestion @Diamond.

It reminds me of the days when gentlemen would use pocket watches and the chain faub would show like jewelry.

Mod.135faU from 1950s. Not bad for it’s age but needs some work.
