yeah TG it's from CountyComm managed to snag one before they sold out. The lens is made of sapphire and the ring around it is made of titanium. It has about a 25X magnification really impressed with it so far  :ahhh

Bit of catch up on the last few months...

I thought it'd be nice to have a clip-point blade so was pleased to find this c.1970 Elinox Tourist...

Annoyingly(!) I then found this similar age Climber Small - giving clip-point plus scissors...  Can anyone tell me if the single-leaf blackened spring is original for that age?

Both have signs of use, but nice to have.

Before seeing the clip-point Climber Small I though I'd found a later one - only to discover it was actually an Alumnus...

AlumnusA.jpg

The scissor spring was missing, and apparently the A.2757 which I think should fit is not so easy to come by.  I was about to risk ordering a couple from Italy but thought I'd try a couple of local possibilities.  A long established outdoors shop that must be on the verge of retirement closure had a few old spares including 4 types of spring - so I got them all...

I was delighted to find that the smaller-eyed spring was a perfect fit, squeezing in nicely with a little press that I bodged up.  Also nice to have a few vintage other bits including a "Pat." round screwdriver in case other items need age appropriate parts.

Just for 84mm completeness, I also ended up with a Waiter and pair of Sportsman (with and without keyring) - but I don't think they warrant taking up picture space.

It may be I am getting a SAK-aholic condition.  When I saw the upcoming Sportsman Challenge, it pushed me over the edge to buy another SAK.  I’ve never had an 84mm before, so wound up with 2 new to me.  Maybe this will be a sufficient “fix” and the condition will end.

No more than another drink would help you sober up.  84mm are great.  It wouldn't seem that dropping down from a 91mm to 84mm would feel different, but it does.  For you, that might mean dropping from a 111mm to an 84mm.  One good thing, you can still run equipment and drive a car under the influence of SAKs.  Best wishes.  Gary

Yes, Gary.  I do have a few 111s, but, I have more 91s than 111s.  I have lost count and should round them up.

Thanks for the response.

Always a pleasure, Jeff.  It won't be long until you cross another plateau with 100 posts.  You will get another threaded hexagonal fitting.  I never owned a 111, but I have been carrying a 108 for ages.  As soon as the Serengeti challenge is over, I think I will stick a Spartan in my pocket.  Might just try a Leatherman for a month.  We will see.  Best wishes.  Gary

Eh... no... it uh... doesn't fix the.. condition.  I think this is the 2nd (or maybe it's the 3rd one) that's hopped into my mailbox this week?
