Today has been a confusing day. I talk myself into getting one, and then talk myself out of it again.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Depends what you want your phone to do (apart from use it to make and receive calls, of course). Look at all the platforms and then decide.
Personally, I use an iPhone and find it's perfect for me, but it might not be for you.

Good luck!

Did I hear correctly something about an I-Phone 5 coming out for summer?
Sorry not to derail your thread but if true something to think about?  :)

Having used both a Desire and and iPhone I'd have to go Apple, if I could afford it.  The Desire is good but not as good.

For me at least, the main factor between them is the screen.  Both look stunning inside and on overcast days (of which we have many) they both are OK but in sunlight the Desire is almost unusable.  The iphone4 doesn't have a transflective screen but its still functional on bright days which is more than I could say for the Desire.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Get one I have never had a phone that did so many things that was so easy to use. The longer I have my IPhone the more I like it.

Yes, I have heard that as well. Due later in the year, along with IPAD 2.

Here recently our team has been expanding the mobile departments at my work. Seems like Blackberry has taken a backseat to either Android based phones VS Iphones. Windows phones are starting to catch on but nowhere near the Android/Iphone market share. With Verizon Iphones coming soon i wonder if Verizon will be super aggressive with Android based phones as in the past when ATT was sole provider. Word is ATT is gonna push Android in a swipe at Apple for pulling away from ATT.

Either way Android is here to stay. As a Verizon customer i would have went with apple last august if they carried it. I have a Droid now and i love it. Apple products are nice though....that screen is beautiful with netflix (friend has one)

Let me know what you think of it- I'm currently bouncing back and forth between an iPhone 4 and a Droid.  I'm eligible for a hardware upgrade in March and I'd like to have a plan when the time comes.  I'd happily stick with my HTC Touch for a while longer but the battery life these days is poo.

For me it's not really about the technology so much.  I like iPhone and iPad... But Apple.... Steve Jobs.... nope don't like.

I'm tired of *hit like no-flash, you can sell your app, no battery replacement, locked phones, blaming the network when 50% of the problems are the phone. ... etc.  I could not use an iPhone without hacking it, and then Apple is all upset and wants to send me to jail.  Did you follow the segment on the lots iPhone prototype...

Verizon iPhone sounds good in some ways, but it does not use their latest network (have to wait for next version for that).  ... and maybe more important I decided long ago I don't buy non-GSM phones.

So... all these reasons are very personal, philisophical, and entirely my personal feeling on the matter.

That would leave the latest Android....  check the CES show winners....

That said I'm still happy with my Palm for personal information, and my SLVR-7 for voice... I use to jump on tech band wagons not I watch people pull carts with square wheels.... Android's are rounding now though quite nicely.  .... one might consider this a reason to discount my views.

One of my criterial is also battery usage/charging, I do my phone once a week (have extended battery), my palm once a month/1.5 months.  I'm afraid neither of these is likely to be very good, but iPhone without a replacement option is just a non starter.

I should note... I do have an iPhone... I bought it in a time of weekness when I got it on practically a give away.  It's still in the box, it might make it to a tech museum one-day.  If some Android does not find it and assimilate it.    :D

From a nother point of view; if you have not rushed out to buy it yet, you likely won't sleep unless you try the Android first.  Remember not all androids are the same.  They were made by a user.

Good luck!

Yes I got the HTC Desire Z on Friday, going from a HTC Touch HD with Windows mobile, and I really love the little thing and the Android OS, but will give it a couple of more days before making a final verdict of the Desire and Android but for now I love it.

I have no experience with an iPhone and I probably never will, but a friend of mine bought a Desire, sold it and bought a iPhone 4 and now he is going to buy a Desire again. I really don’t like Apple with crazy hippie Jobs at the helm and the 1984 environment that Apple products live in so I am not an impartial subject on this matter. I really liked this article when it came out almost a year ago and I still think that it’s valid http://thenextweb.com/google/2010/04/09/iphone-40-android-os-apple-lost-game/

The only downside with the Android OS is that you have to pay a little attention to the specs of the hardware in the phone since there are being made phones that don’t have the recommended specs for running Android, making the entire phone just crap. iPhone 4 comes with iPhone OS 4 and is made for running with that OS, several of my friends having iPhone 3 experienced problems upgrading to iPhone OS 4 and people with iPhone 4 will probably have the same problems when upgrading to iPhone OS 5.

As I see it, people buying iPhone’s, iPad’s, iPod’s, i this and i that buy them because they are Apple products and they are “cool”. If you buy a iPhone I am sure that you will be happy with it but as I said, I am not an impartial subject.
There is no problem that cannot be solved by the use of high explosives.
