Was that the really cheap one on evilbuy ?

They are a really odd thing, and they didn't even bother putting any extra tools in the empty handle.

I'm firmly of the opinion that the designers who came up with the ideas for the Stanley "toolbox" series of promotional tools had applied some kind of strong artificial enhancements (drugs) to their minds before they started their design sessions.  I mean, a clock on some pliers, a tape measure on a watch, a watch with a built-in C-clamp, but for me the most outlandish is the clock/screwdriver styled like a WW2  floating mine  !!!

Having said that, they appeal to my (warped) mind, so I have quite a collection of them.

Why yes, yes it was.  :hatsoff:  I already own one, so I low balled an offer thinking they would never accept.  Go figure :dunno:  :D
I too am affected with warped mind syndrome. The odder the better. Probably explains why I bought that monster Pocketpro multi tool.

Just ordered a slip pouch for my PX from Etsy (it's the one on the left that looks black but is, apparently, Choc' Brown  )

It was about 21 GBP with delivery from Belgium so not a bad deal and the quality looks good (the reviews were good as well)

Here's the link if anyone is interested  :dunno: (Mods please remove if not allowed  )

https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/511719979/slip-sheath-for-victorinox-alox-series?ref=shop_home_active_1&crt=1

I'll let you all know when it arrives and if it's as good as it looks  :salute:
Well it arrived today   :mail: As promised, here's a few shots.

Overall the quality is outstanding and the colour is difficult to convey in the pics but it really is Choc' Brown (dark, not milk) It fits the PX perfectly and (in case anyone asks) it fits the Farmer just as well.

The leather is thick and looks like it will last as long as the knife and probably longer than me...

I think I'll be ordering some others soon (particularly for the FX when I get one)  :tu:

Thoroughly recommended  :tu:
They don't like it up 'em!

Due to the fact that I knew Acer would charge a ridiculous price (warranty ran out in Feb. this year when it should have run out in Oct.), the fact that UPS shipping ain't cheap, and due to COVID, I am trying to avoid going inside a store until the cases really start to disappear.   I have ordered a new power supply to replace the DOA original in my Acer Nitro 50-600. Folks had some card rewards points, which brought it down to $30.  For less than the cost of shipping and the work to be done, I should have a gaming PC that is even better than it is supposed to be when I'm done and at least try to take proper ESD precautions.  While the case is open, I am putting the 16GB RAM cards (2x 8GB) in that I bought when I thought the lockups and random shutdowns were RAM related. The stock RAM is 8GB. After that work is done, it should run any game that I want it to.

It is a standard ATX supply. Micro ATX and ATX supposedly can interchange, but I am not sure. I could not find Micro ATX supplies that much.

I'm currently waiting to receive a Gerber Amrbar Drive and a 2 Pack of P51 can openers. :hatsoff: Going to EDC them as a combo and see how it compares with my Vic Soldier. I find myself often wanting scissors and a bit driver but don't want to carry a full sized MT. :dunno: I'm aware of the back spring being weak on the Armbar, I'm going to see if there's a way I can fix it. :ahhh

Let us know how your Armbar is. Maybe you get lucky and get one with a back spring that actually does its job  :D

Overboard again.

For $8 shipped, the USA-made version of the Swiss Tech tool. I had the China-made one as a teen, and carried it around a lot. Handles have gotten floppy, and it's been retired to the collection drawers.  I am hoping the steel is a little better in the USA version. This will be on my keys, alongside the Nite Ize Doohickey. The ST has decent cutters (unlike the Sebertool) and is far more robust than the Leatherman Style pliers.

For $16 shipped, a Schrade USA 6OT Cave Bear.  Aside from tarnished bolsters, it looks new. I suppose someone bought it and never carried/used it, but stored it somewhere damp.

Folks did an order with Home Depot. SInce it was quite small, I helped get it over the limit with a Klein Tools USA 1550-2. I like electrician's knives, and own a ton. Kutmaster is the only company still making a "standard" version in the USA. Hopefully, the lock issues aren't as bad as on my hawkbills.

For $46, a Moore Maker (by Queen) 5201LL liner lock Mini Trapper. . I feel kinda stupid. I could have gotten one that looked nicer (with a pin crack in the much more yellow-looking bone; and slight main blade wobble) for about eight bucks more. I think I'll make an offer however, on that one to see if I can get it for the same price as this knife. This one will be used and carried due to the staining. I think this will be my primary carry during the next traditional challenge in July.

A Fiskars X5 camp/freetime axe is on the way to my local DIY for pickup.
It's not that expensive, but somehow I kept postponing getting one

I have a bit bigger version of that, and it's pretty handy without weighing me down. But just for cutting, due to the polymer handle being molded over the head, as opposed to being mounted properly.  If I need to chop light limbs, and my small folding saws/SAK isn't going to cut it; this ax allows me to have the cutting power of my Estwing in less than half the weight in the pack.

I am hoping, finally, that once the work is done, I will have a nice gaming PC, which I should've had out of the box; but the power supply was faulty--light use is fine, but any load will make it shut down unexpectedly due to the bad power supply. And 16GB of RAM is going in the PC while I'm at it as opposed to the stock 8.  This PC has a Radeon RX580 graphics card and an i7. Not really high end in terms of gaming PCs, but better than what I had before (a mid-end i5 Asus toaster from 2015 with integrated graphics).  I swapped back to the Asus recently due to the issues I'd been having. It will eventually be overhauled as well--I am doubling the RAM in it as well, and cleaning it. May add a graphics card while I'm at it; and upgrade the power supply and cooling--big case the old Asus M32CD

Not long after, I canceled the order for the previous generic power supply, and got the exact one. Price may have been double, but at least there won't be as many headaches replacing like for like, as the cables are already bundled and tied up the way they should be, for the most part. And I'll know FOR SURE the connectors are the right ones. The weird thing about this power supply is that the place the power cable plugs into is not soldered onto it, but instead plugs in. Thus, one-size-fits-all supplies weren't gonna cut it.

I'm waiting on a serrated Cold Steel Voyager Vaquero XL.  I've have gotten back into the 5.5" XL Cold Steel lineup as of late.  Compensating for my inadequacies, you know.

Sometimes, a knife that big isn't exactly overkill. Just great for those moments where a large knife with a thick blade is needed; but a fixed blade on your hip is just gonna end up hanging up on everything and being a general pain in the backside. Vs. a big knife like this clipped to your back pocket that isn't gonna get in the way of anything .

Yeah there are pretty good ways to carry a super large knife like the Cold Steel XL lineup.  Even the Rajah II carries fine in the pocket, though its sticks out a good bit, and there are plenty of extra pockets that work on 5.11 Taclite Pro pants and a Dickie's work shirt.

Mostly I carry one of these knives just because its fun.  They have more knife flavor than smaller knives.

Well,
I've been and gone and done it

I ordered the FX today (from Vic' UK) along with a couple of the standard red lanyard things.

The FX was £53 (64.63 USD or 59.32 EURO) so, not cheap, but a four layer Alox is a thing worth buying..right

It says 2 - 3 "working days" for delivery (so who knows  :dunno: )

Watch this space.... :woohoo:
