Hehe, they are never enough....
I think that a soft touch and a evo translucent model would fit well in your display.

And another Realtree, and a few more metal ones, and Classic scaled translucent models in red, orange and blue, ...

@Gim, to make it easier, better send that box to me and you start from the beginning. It will be easier to organize.

Always nice to see your boxes. :salute:

I rescued this old Wenger from an antique shop today. Could any of the experts tell me what model it is and how old it might be? Thanks!  :salute:

Hello,

It's a Vicking ancestor (I have no name neither references) between 1950 and 1958.

Hey, long time no post on this topic.
So, here is my last purchase from Japan.
Model 1.39.03.02 (known as "Motorist") with black scales and old car image (first attachment). Never saw this model before!
Some time ago I had found (from Japan) the same knife in black, but without the car image (old picture already posted in the forum/wiki, second attachment).
And last is the same knife with the "quattro" logo (and leather pouch). I believe this was probably a promo knife for the Audi quattro (third attachment). I'm no expert on cars, but the logo seems the same.

Just a question : where do you find Wenger "made for Japan market" ?

Amazon.jp (when it works and doesn't block the purchase) for one knife (but it was not a Japan exclusive, just a missing one from the Nature series).
All the others (bought between 2013 and now) came from this shop (unfortunately they don't have any from this series left now)

Hello all !

Wenger is dead ? Not at all !!!

In Delemont, Peter Hug (The last boss of Wenger) create a new knives manufacture with SWIZA (a prestigious clock manufacture since 1904).

It's a real scoop !!!

According to information of Swiss newspapers, many employees of Victorinox-Wenger Factory of Delemont leave their work to work in the new Swiza factory with Peter Hug... Victorinox does not comment...

To begin, only 4 knives and 4 colors :

Since Wensday 10/21/2015 Victorinox is no longer alone on the Swiss Army Knives market...

Well, I think Vic workplaces are more secure. And how many are many? That said, it's unsurprising. Being taken over by a company from the German speaking part does not sit well with many in the French speaking part (might as well be a Chinese company).

How many are many ? LOL I don't know exactly but Peter has surrounded himself with some of his former staff, as Mrs Rebecca Käslin (communication manager of Wenger) now vice president communication and I suppose lot of former wenger people who never accept the end of the "Wenger spirit of innovation".
I don't believe it's a problem of French speaking or German speaking. Swiss people can work together without problem and it was the case for Wenger and Victorinox between 2005 and 2013. The problem is when Father Elsener bought Wenger in 2005, he promised to preserve the brand and the production of Wenger, but his son didn't respect this promise in 2013.
Swiss people can forgive lot of things but never a promise not respected.

Um... no! The Wenger brand is still strong (the only thing they don't make anymore is SAKs, the part that brought the company down).
People in the management of Wenger probably had it hard under Victorinox rule (less chance advancements) but then who is to blame, so I'm not surprised to see them go. My impressions of the Swiza knife so far is, that non of the good engineers/tool-designers have switched ::) :D

Being Swiss ;) and having friends in Delemont, I think it is at least parts Röstigraben (imaginary line between French and German speaking Switzerland).

Ach ! The röstigraben !!! Yes of course ! So swiss LOL !
But I'm not sure it's the only reason.
Wenger is still strong but for watches, backpacks... Not for Wenger knives production.

I visited the Wenger factory in December 2013... All employees were very sad. the Wenger brand was like a flag for them, they had shared so many woes and joys together... It was like a defeated army, a tragedy. And it was also a tragedy for collectors of Wenger knives !

Wenger Factory in December 2013 and August 2014...

Wenger goes bankrup, Vic takes over and gives Wenger and its employees an extremely sweet deal... still everybody is complaining

I have much love for Wengers.  Attached are some Wengers I have owned over the years.  I verify all the comment about the Wenger Scissors above  ---  Wenger scissor are 100x better than the Victorinox.  They cut sharper and last longer.

I understand what you mean but... Human is human, not robot...

Wenger goes bankrup, that's OK in 2005.
Vic takes over and gives Wenger and its employees an extremely sweet deal, that's OK between 2005 and 2013.
Between 2005 and 2013, it was a good wedding : Wenger grows up and makes money with the Wenger Brand, Wenger knives, Wenger expertise, Wenger innovation, etc. Victorinox also won money with Wenger and Victorinox grows up too. In fact it was a good deal for everybody a "win-win" deal.

But... At the end of 2013 Vic changed the rules and killed the brand Wenger, killed the boss and other people of management team, killed the production of knives... It was an error. It was an error in human strategy...
The only rule to apply in that case is : "No change in a rugby team when the team wins".
My idea is Vic said at the end of 2013 : "I am the boss and I do all I want because I have the juridical right to do it" Yes of course !!! But... It doesn't work in all cases even with the juridical right ! And the "röstigraben" is there !
Nobody can make a "revolution" in a 120 years old factory without having human problems...
Americans investors or chinese investors buy luxury hotels in Paris or Bordeaux vineyard but without making "revolution" and it works !

I'm sorry but what is the result now ? Victorinox spent money to absorb a competitor and an other new competitor born ! It's not a win strategy...
