It doesn't need to be an even number, nor do we need to swap gifts in pairs. We could:

Randomise the order of names in the list, each person in the new order gives their gift to the person in front of them. The last person gives their gift to the person at the beginning of the list.

We can split the lists out by country quite easily this way too, if necessary.

I like this idea the best so far, as everybody gets the same chance as they are picked simultaneously. But as the thread starter, Steve gets to decide.

UPDATE, Sorry will have to withdraw the Coleman Prolock

as today I noticed one of the blade capsule thingys was very loose. I attempted to tighten it, well it now just goes round and round

its stripped the screws

I can't gift something in this condition
