I got a few black oxide parts in yesterday....

A bunch of stormtroopers are going to go together for sure, and some 58 ramblers with brass scales.

I even made up some keyring spacers from 410 stainless so I could do stormtroopers with keyrings.

I dont think Ive done hard anodized blue scales with black tools before, so here is one.

I even made a keyring nub from stainless 410 and had that BO'd with the keyring.

Cheers. :D

I don't think I've posted in your thread yet but nice work on all this ALOX stuff Robert. I don't have an ALOX SAK yet but I swear to you that I will get one of yours one day soon.

Blue and green hah, same here, if we ever have to get two of the same thing they have to be one blue and one green. LOVE the color combo Syph! Perfect fit! GREAT job! JR

And now for something completely different.

It's a Vic and Wenger merger into an alox frame.

I wasnt sure about the pliers, but after some handle reprofiling, the parts mockup seems like it will all work out.

I should be done tomorrow if it works out as I expect.

Cheers!

Nice.  I'm hoping to use the left over wenger phillips on cadet mod. Also a big fan of wenger pliers.  Someone is getting a very nice tool!

WOW!  Man, I just love all these posts! Too bad I don't have the tim€ or $kill to do the same. I'm going to start with some chinese knock-off SAKs to train my hand at disassemble/assemble. Maybe in a while I can have some unique SAKs of my own!

Thanks for the share!

This one is coming along.  I only need another hour or so.  I needed to cut a nail nick in the pliers to get them out, but it turned out just fine.  First time Ive done that, but a steady dremel hand was all it took.

I'll post more pics later today.

Cheers

Wow getting this one together was a pain, but totally worth it.  I love how it turned out and now I know that wenger pliers can indeed go on alox.

Here is the nail nick I added with a dremel, then sanded to smooth it over.  Works great!  I was nervous to do this on a part that I had no backups of, but it turned out great!

This is for sure a unique one and I hope the lucky owner enjoys it!

Great job Robert. Can I ask what spring you used for the wenger pliers in that alox, and which spring for the wrench and phillips? Thanks.

Great job Robert. Can I ask what spring you used for the wenger pliers in that alox, and which spring for the wrench and phillips? Thanks.

For the phillips/wrench I used a blade backspring.  They are 0.105 thick.  The same thickness as the wrench, but the phillips is 0.110 so I saned off 0.05 from the phillips side to make it just right.

The pliers were also 0.105 thick, but the rivets on the side of the pliers needed much more space, so I used the thickest custom spring I have at 0.0145 thick with 0.020" washers on each side.  Worked out just right. :D

Remember those 154cm blades I had made a looong time ago.. well I finally got one in a knife.

I make the thick spacer out of Titanium, and yes this has a bail with tapered tips to fit in torx T9 screws.  :D

I was working on 4 at once today in the SAK lab.  3 standard urban pioneers and 1 old cross with brass liners.  Im going to list a bunch on EDCsource but I need to build up some inventory first.  Lots of times people ask what I have ready to go, and I never do have any ready for sale.  So I need a way to satisfy the impulse buyers who want a custom ASAP.  :D

Pioneer + Scissors and Farmer + Scissors are good to go models IMHO ;)

Ya for sure pioneer plus scissors is a safe bet.  Half the total mods I've done have been that.   I have a bunch of metal saws too, so I think Id like to do pioneer + scissors + metal saw too.  A couple of them at least.

I wont locktite these ones yet, so that when I sell them the customer can still opt to add a pocket clip or no keyring whatever the preference.  I think thats the best way to account for different carry tastes.
