The blue does look nice though, but I understand why most people favor the red.  I am curious to try OD Green scales with black tools, it might look nice.  Too many mods and not enough time! :D

Finished up a new model finally.  No scissors but pliers instead.  Urban Mechanic I guess?

This is the first mod for me with no stock liners at all.  This is using titanium liners and keyring spacer.  Wow it's my first exposure to Ti, and it's a beautiful material, but a royal bitch to finish.  Probably about 5 sheets of sandpaper and an hour or more per liner.  I had to make some 1/2 split mandrels in my drill press to chew through it, hand sanding just doesn't cut it.

I'm happy with the end product though, and wow the pliers have a wicked good snap on them with dual saw backsprings.

I'm almost caught up now on customs for others so I got to work on one for me last night.  Cadet II with scissors.  I have a few 84mm mods I want to make and collect, and this was first.  Next is a regular cadet with scissors in red, and backside awl.  I just about have that one fit up.

(Image removed from quote.)

Nice work

A blue cadet with scissors and a pocket clip!  Knifekits sells these very small steel clips that just suit a cadet size perfect I think.

Someone else wanted my matte gray scales! 2nd order ever! :D  They look amazing paired with the red liners though so maybe someone else will want it too.

I just got in a new run of hard anodized blue parts and they are sweeeet.  Slightly darker shade than my last run, and it looks super nice.

Here is an old school electrician done up with the nice blue scales, polished backsprings and Ti liners/keyring.  :D

Cheers

I love it ! :tu: :tu: :tu:

I dont think Ive done hard anodized blue scales with black tools before, so here is one.

I even made a keyring nub from stainless 410 and had that BO'd with the keyring.

Cheers. :D

Why carbon steel? (plus, doesn't that rust easier?) What is wrong with Vic steel?  :pok: :pok:

Just my preference.  I've always wanted a SAK with a carbon steel blade.

Carbon steel, depending on the type, will hold an edge, IMO, much better than almost any. I would like one myself
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Carbon steel has more carbon than stainless, this IMO holds a superior edge.

Good mornig,

I am new to the forum, and the SAK modding,I just bought a victorinox alox farmer and I would like to change it after having already seen at work. :)

now, I have a couple of questions from novice:

my mod is: Replace cap lifter with Electrician pruning blade, is it possible? for (size and space)

- Between the methods that I like the most to reassemble prefer the pivot and torx, I found this linked from you:
http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_info.php?cPath=60_83&products_id=471
http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_info.php?cPath=60_81_230&products_id=1248

my question is the measure is already correct or do I enlarge the holes of my victorinox? the diameter of the pivot's good enough for the other accessories already present or do I have to redo all the holes? the length is correct for my sak? or I have to cut away part of the pivot? you can do?

the size of the original pins look different, those at the ends seem more large (diameter) than the central mildly smallest is correct?
how i can fix this? I have to make a hole to widen it?

one last thing: I really like the idea of coloring the spacer where can I find these?

or how do I get my color permanently?

I really like this result:

I have not found a good step by step guide to change my alox SAK really appreciate if you can help

If you browse the first pages, you will find good step by step pictures of how teh Syph-SAKs come together.

The Liners pictured have been polished and then Hard-Anodized. Syph had them done by a Pro and uses them in his mods.

You will have to redrill the tools, liners and scales of a SAK to 1/8 to use the Knifekit pivots. You will also have to shorten the pivots according to the width of your knife.

I am pretty sure an electricians blade can be used, but I do not know if you will have to reprofile teh pivot area or if you maybe need to use a different spring altogether.

The problem behind an electrician's blade at the position of the caplifter is that the nailnick is on the wrong side and the blade must be bent in the opposite direction. But it can be done.

it is true, I had not noticed before ... thanks for warning

a general question you can find tools and shells individually?
or the only way is to buy several knives to retrieve tools and parts?

Every time I open this thread, I can feel a giant sucking sensation on my wallet.

I'm going to have to get another custom SAK in the near future.  These new anodized colors are just too tempting...

Yes, the only option is to buy several knives and get the tools you need from them. One of the reasons why custom work is expensive.

Also, welcome to the forum. :waving:

Oh and absolutely yes buying the donors is what makes modding expensive.

You know you are heavily into it when you buy 25 compacts at a time.  :D  They are a great scissors source though.  You get scissors and a combo tool, and then the plus scales with all the goodies.

Those with weak stomachs might want to look away.   These are lined up for slaughter tonight.  I shall fashion a trophy necklace from all the corkscrews!  Like the savage SAK hunter from the jungle!
