Bought my Pops a Rebar for Christmas, before knowing that I was getting it's big brother the ST300 on the same day. It was a good Christmas!

Just got a (for the most part) Rebar today. It's had the replaceable wire cutter plier head swapped with one from a (I think) Blast. Same head that was on the whole Fuse/Blast/Kick line and same one on the Wave. Other than that, it's stock.

I hope I qualify for membership. :D

Some quick thoughts. Half an ounce lighter than the Sidekick/Wingman, and only an ounce heavier than a PST II. All locking tools. Super-agressive, but non-diamond file. Plain Edge blade! Wohoo! Nice fat flathead as a basic pry tool is something I always like. Good awl. Stout and long-shanked phillips. lanyard ring which can be tucked away as needed. Saw, can opener with wire stripper. Reasonably comfortable in-hand both open and closed.

If the goal is function and utility, not aesthetics and convenience (as in one-hand-open), then this might be the pinnacle of design. I prefer it greatly over the ST300 due to its smaller size/lighter weight. It is amazingly compact for its features.

Excellent tool!  :tu:

Welcome to the club Lynn   I agree with all you said.  The Rebar is a rather robust MT for such a compact, lightweight frame :tu:  Only lacking scissors (which I know is a biggie for you ;)), but easily remedied by your sweet Crosscut.

Yeah, at this point, I'd rather have a scissor-based small tool. Plus, something like a Crosscut or Micra offer features lacking on a larger tool (nail file, tweezers, eyeglass scale screwdriver, for instance). I think it works best splitting those functions, honestly. The Wave has that small driver, but it's cumbersome to try to use it on eyeglasses because of the mass of the tool.

Yeah, that's why I like to pair my Rebar with a SAK.  Between the two, pretty much all bases are covered and then some for me honestly.  I also thought that about the full size MTs with the tiny bit driver.  I didn't think it made much sense to have such a tiny bit meant for precise work on a large, heavy frame.  Especially on the original Surge....that must be quite a chore to use really.

The only thing I can think of would be to tighten the screws at the end of the handle, but that may be easier said than done due to the screw design and the area around the screw

If the weight/space isn't a concern I'd certainly call that an upgrade.

After carrying my PST for a couple of days, I went back to the Rebar.

Rebar is a much superior tool. Yes, it's slightly bigger/heavier than a PST but for what you get I think its worth it.

I love this tool. Even though it is a spares build, it can come in very handy.

I used my Rebar Saw for the first time today,
I am very impressed.
Had to cut through a 4 cm/almost 2 inch Wattle tree branch, that was over my Neighbours fence,a couple of minutes, little effort, and no binding at all.
I love this thing,Great tool.

I have joined the Rebar club as of Monday. I like it well enough, but it will not replace the Wave as my work EDC. This is a very compact feeling tool, and very light. However, I do have some complaints. In comparing this tool to my Wave, it is clearly not as solid. The non-plier end of the handles are able to be flexed a little. With tools deployed and locked, there is some noticeable wiggle to each implement. Not that any of this bothers me, mind you, but based on everyone's common complaints of the Sidekick/Wingman I am surprised how well received the Rebar is when it exhibits a lot of the same issues. At any rate, I like it and based on the $31 I paid for it, I am definitely not complaining.

Proud new owner of a SS Rebar, and the Micra that hitched a ride with it.

A great combo with a SAK or Micra for scissors.
