Ok, I think I have a problem. I can't seem to stop doing work on this tiny tool. I made another SE, this time with a much less aggressive pattern. I first made the curves with the large stone bit, the made the small scallops with a diamond bit. The I angled the same diamond big and profiled the large scallops. Finished off with an over all 400 grit sanding followed by a backside sharpening on an overturned belt sander. I'll install it when the nail file gets here to minimize the disassembly and reassembly time.

I like the less aggressive scalloping myself though I'm not a SE user.

Much better serrations mate  :salute: Nice to see the size perspective in hand too  :tu:

This project is rapidly going from a "Metro's been drinking the paint thinners" idea, to a "now, why didn't LM do that" idea  :D :D :D

Great job mate  :tu:

Great job on the second serrated blade. The first one seemed a bit odd for you. :salute:

Ah there you go, that looks just right.  The best serrations Ive used so far are on the swisstool RS rescue cutter.  All big scallops and that's what I want to put on my SAK blades for dual bladed SAKs.

I've been kicking the SE idea that you had for this. I really do like the scalloping on the second blade you did. Consider this though, is that blade too small for the less aggressive scalloping? I would think that the first one may be more beneficial to the kit as it could be doubled for a saw

Hard to say. I often cut bailing twin and nylon rope so this amount of SE might be good. I could always try another and make the large scallops a little smaller using the 1/2 stone bit to shape it.

Great work Metro, as always. As amazing as your work always is, you would think I would stop being surprized but it is always mind blowing to see what you can come up with.  :salute: I was skeptical at first that the end result would be too big and heavy without offering any real advantage over stock. I could not have been more wrong (more wrong? ) and now I have Squirt envy (sounds nasty).

Anyways, the less aggressive SE blade looks alot better and is probably more effective and safer. That first attempt looks like something out of a horror movie  >:D.

Why the two files?

What happened to the ruler scales?

They didn't turn around as well as I would like. I am thinking of designing some new SS scales an getting them printed. I'll include some rulers on it and possibly a 1/4" hex hole.

About time!!! One of the last pieces of the puzzle!

The LM S4's came in with the coveted nail file ruler. I REALLY wanted this for a nice weekend project.

ok, here are the prelim designs for the new scales.

I'll print em in detailed plastic first. It may end up being that way, but I'd like to get the fit right. Plus, the plastic is WAY faster to print and get to my door.

As you can see there is an extra set...with a hex hole in it. I am hoping to put the that set on and use the spring and clamping force of my hands so it can grip 1/4" hex bits. Won't be for much force, but then again, these tools were never meant to do what I am doing with them.

Off to Shapeways!

If the tool is going to be thick, might as well make it a wee bit thicker and make it useful!

That's a nice mod.  It's a shame it's got those break-proned scissors on it.

What are you cutting with them? I've had a ps4 for years and so has my dad, never has the scissors break.

Hi Eric
The finished tool looks awesome

Not quite done, the new scales will take about 2 weeks to get here. If those fit, then this project will be goooood to go!

I did some sharpening and woo! Arm hair shaving! Mirror polished.

Also, some file work on the new nail file.

You may have to take orders on this one  ;)

Just wait till you see the new scales. They maybe thicker, but they sure are going to be Purdy!

You know, not that many. Only one of each, a E4, P4, S4 and a PS4, all I got cheap off eBay. The whole project not counting the custom scales is still coming under $85.
