I too wish I had found this place much sooner than I did, but at least I did find it, and I haven't looked back since ;)  I gotta say again that I love this place and have a great time chatting with a variety of people here that share my interest.  I also should thank everyone who has tolerated much of my over-analytical babbling in many threads :P ;)

In truth, its time to take a moment or two,and give the Boss, and his team of mods the credit they richly deserve!

Also,a big hurrah for the modding part of the community, who constantly amaze and tempt us,and redefine what all can be done with knives and multitools.

Oh and let's not forget the spammers, for all the fun they give us!

well said, Kirk. I wholeheartedly agree with all three points!  :)  happy anniversary to MTo!

I've been here less than a year so far, but continue to be surprised by the lack of the usual trolls, a-holes, know-it-alls etc that forums usually have.

You're a great bunch, even if you have cost me a fortune.

Yes, this is the coolest forum I ever heard of. The only place off topics are taken seriously and people are very friendly and generous, suppressing their ego that is the main motive for participation to most other forums.
May MTO outlive us and provide support for the next generations of space Multitools and evergreen Swiss Army Knives.

+1 on both counts.  That is one of my favorite parts about this forum, none of that foolishness that is all too common on forums nowadays.  And this place has caused me to spend more money, but I'm more educated about what I buy now at least ;)

My first question on this forum was answered by baja, with no gripes and he even showed enthusiasm about seeing my finished product.   That is awesome!   Others have helped and been amazing,  but you know how first impressions are special. :D

Hi Multitoolers and happy anniversary Multitool.org thanks again for being so welcoming to us new members!

Here is a giveaway announcement which I hope will make everybody happy.  I don't know what form it will take (random number draw?) but It starts hopefully today or tomorrow, and will wrap up on Friday the 12 of July.

In case you missed my first product announcement in the R&D section, I'm Gamble, creator of The GearPull: A Revolutionary Dangler.  This project is currently funding on Kickstarter.  I hope you check it out!--> http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/872996112/the-gearpull-a-revolutionary-dangler

Anyway as part of my efforts to promote the GearPull I've teamed up with Multitool.org to give away a special Dangler right here.  There's even a second GearPull give away in the works but more on that later.

Here is an excerpt from the campaign page:
"The GearPull is the only Dangler available today which offers attachment points arranged on a lateral axis, allowing your keys and gear to sit side by side, flat against your leg instead of in an uncomfortable, disorganized jumble. This is a major advantage.
The attachment point holes are 1/8" in diameter except for the center hole which is 3/16".  They are all 1/16" inch away from the base of the unit, which means you won't warp smaller split rings when threading them in. I recommend hanging just three items from the left right and center holes with 20mm (#1) "McGizmo" clips or 3/8" split rings, but the GearPull can accommodate up to 5 items with numerous attachment methods while still functioning well, as long as the user takes care in designing the layout. What I love most about the GearPull is that it allows one to carry multiple tools, without attempting to be a multi-tool itself.  I don't want an integral bottle opener, pry tip/box cutter, hex wrench or any other gimmick as a permanent fixture on my Dangler!  In my opinion all those extras just compromise aesthetics while offering minimal additional utility in return. Simplicity is fundamental to good design, the GearPull is fundamentally simple."

So when I was first pulling this together I intended to offer brass, copper, titanium and a 4th metal; C464 or Nickel Silver.  Polished up this is a bright and shiny white metal made to resemble Sterling Silver, though its actually an alloy of Brass.  I had a few Samples cut, and as part of my efforts to promote this campaign I will be giving away a deluxe version of the GearPull in Nickel Silver to help Multitool.org celebrate its 7th anniversary.  The Nickel Silver GearPulls will never be available for sale so this is a very rare chance to get one…and its free, AND it will be shipped to the lucky winner right after the campaign closes!  This is a deluxe version which includes the McGizmo Clips, Pull tab and Leatherman Style,  AND free refinishing for the next 25 years.  Up to 2x/year.
Here is a pic of the prize for this giveaway!

Weight of the Nickel Silver GearPull alone is about is 26 grams, or about 5 us quarters.

Hopefully one of the Mods will follow up by posting the give away thread separately and including a link to it here.  It's intended to end on the 12th when the winner will be announced.  Thats just a couple days before the close of the campaign, so even if you don't get this one there will still be time to become a backer. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have and I'm sure more details are forthcoming, just check this thread for more updates as they come in!

I assume The second giveaway will also be in a separate thread from the campaign itself.  The winner of that one will get to choose from among the three metals I'm offering in the campaign; Brass, Copper and Titanium, and will get theirs on schedule with the rest of my backers; by Nov/2013 at the latest.

Very nice of you, Gamble.

Maybe it would be best if you posted your giveaway thread in the Keychain & One Piece Tools subforum and we'll link it here and in a dedicated Giveaway list thread we'll start soon. We still have lots of stuff to give away so a dedicated list thread will be handy. ;)
