power lock in action
on: May 18, 2008, 10:26:30 PM
I watched my Dad using his powerlock today to clamp down on a bolt on his lawnmower while twisting off an awkward nut. Thanks to the compound leverage he held this thing rock solid with no problems at all.As most of you guys know my Dad has a lot of problems thanks to his arthritis but it was nice to see him do something that pre sog would have required him to be assisted it gave him a little independance and saved his pride
You guys helped me pick out the sog i htought it only fair to provide a further update for his progress
Thanks for the help

Things that can help people whit some kind of a disability and at a affordable price gets a gold star from me. Giving a person just a little bit of pride and independence is more important than people think. Love hearing stories like this. :salute:

Can't wait to get my S60. I'm from Norway and the price for a S60 is 200 bucks if not more over here. Thank God for the internet, just cost me 70 bucks+ shipping.

Used a paratool for 10 years now and it's still going strong. Butt it's time to retire it. I love SOG.

It sounds corny I know, but it really is great to hear about how these kinds of things have really helped someone- the forum, the tools and so on.  I also suffer from arthritis, in my foot and knee, not my hands, and it's amazing how frustrating simple things can be when you can't do them.  There are days when I can't even get up to walk to the washroom because each step is so painful you want to fall down and cry.

The worst part of these kinds of things is accepting help, or even getting sympathetic looks from family members who have always relied on you to do things.  It's embarrassing and emasculating on top of being frustrating, and I am glad to hear that we've managed to save your father that grief.
