Not totally banned, just heavily restricted.
I have about 800 brass and 500 nickel plated 38spl cases left over from my Pistol club days. Somewhere I have a bunch of 44MAG too.
The 9mm and 45ACP brass all went in the bin several years ago.

I'm planning on doing several different calibers of these knives, I have a bunch of used Spartans who's tools polish up okay but have dud scales.
I think the gun club boys will like them. Next will be a rifle cartridge, 303-British should be popular.
Also got cases for 45-70 GOVT, 300 WINMAG. 308WIN, 458WIN, 6.5x55 Swedish, 22-250REM and several other randoms that I picked up at the range last week.

Nice.  I am sure the will love them, esp if they have a 1911 and the rifle the Vic driver is spec'd for.

Cheers

A different sort of cellidor mod today.  A user wanted a two layer mechanic with awl in place of phillips.  I used the inner liner as an outer liner for the front side so the pliers rivet did not hit the scale.  The awl needed a very tiny washer made for it as well, but it all worked out just fine.

That's an interesting take on the Mechanic...like a variant on the Mechanic Jr. It definitely makes getting at the awl much easier; the awl on a stock knife is a real nail breaker for me.

I'm new here so - hello everyone :) Greetings from Cracow, Poland!

I have a small problem with my SAK mod...  I saw mods from Syph007, and I realy enjoy two openers in one layer with phillips... But, when i tried it, the spring from layer with philips and magnifying glass was to thin for 2 openers. How you solved that problem, 'couse I cannot find it...

And I forgive me my boldness, but I want to share with you my first mod:
Victorinox Ultimate

Assembled from Cybertool 34 and Swisschamp.
I know that philips is doubled, but i couldn't find the way to put two openers in one layer with magnifying glass.

I hope you like it.

is the washer needed for the proper snap?  I've tried putting an awl there like that with no washer and the snap on the blade wasn't right...

Ya it didnt sit quite right until I did add the washer.  0.015" thick and very tiny around, but I got it made ok and in there.

Hi welcome!  That mod I do with the openers uses two opener springs, that way each opener is sprung independantly, and the phillips needs washers on each side to sit tightly.  I have not tried it on a 91mm SAK though, but it should work too, some reshaping might be needed for the springs.

Your rivet job looks nice!

When I put a mag glass on I sand down around the entire outside so it sits a bit lower.  If it bugs you sticking up that is.   :tu:

This one will be pulled apart again and re-done as there is a couple of things I'm not happy with. The scissors don't have much snap so I may have to give that Solo spring a little bit of extra bend. Also need to re-profile the ramp on that spring so the scissors don't catch as they close.
But it was always done as a learning exercise and I have learned from it, so "job done".

What? You didn't make that in alox? For shame!  :pok:  :P

Very nice mod, as always. I've been running through this thread trying to get some inspiration for my first mod; I've all but ditched the Explorer w/ pliers and a combo tool idea (the combo and mag glass don't appeal much to me). I'm thinking perhaps an alox Executive now.

You used a blade layer spring for the phillips layer, didn't you?

Yep, but now Id probably grind one of my custom springs down to use, so I didnt have to 'use up' another alox sak for the spring.  I suppose a solo spring would be fine too if the other end was ground to the right shape.

Thanks for nice welcome!
I wonder, if I can switch small blade in 91mm SAK for a 93mm reamer (is that a right term for that thing where the small blade is in 91mm SAK?). Then customize 2 springs (syph007 you did something like that, didn't you?) from 93mm to fit in 91mm and put there 2 openners and magnifying glass...

Does anyone have some spare parts:
- 2 springs from alox's openers layer
- magnifying glass (that grey, from witch you can take out the lens)
- alox "reamer"
