Just a scale swap, but it made me a valuable item (Vic 32GB USB with red translucent scales + Victorinox Signature Laser...)

my personal Victorinox Presentation Master !!! :)

(without Fingerprint of course)

My girlfriend received her own presentation master with slim USB and blade/cut picker tool and scissors. No pics here, she doesn't give it back to me even for just one second!  :D

After some reflection, I believe I way overdesigned the scales for the LEGO mod and as it is, it won't look good no matter what I do...so, that iteration is scrapped. But it will be back.

Good advice though.  Any photos of that tool would be appreciated.

Here you are (sorry for the delay):

I have three tools. ;)

The upper two are hand forged by ... me. :) The lower one is a formely rusted nail I found on a street.

There are three tips from top two bottom:
A large wide round tip (hardened... by me)
A very small round tip (hardened... by me)
A square and at the edge round tip.

I use them for peening, especially for the last steps, when a hammer is too dangerous for the scales.

You know when I first seen the Lime Green scales I hated them, but they are starting to grow on me. Excellent work on the mod by the way. Love the finish on those tools as well.  :tu:

Thanks all...
@Capt'n, yeah and I don't recommend it. If you want a better can opener, use the standard can opener I've learned. The combo tool is definitely a compromise...

@monrogue, Florida. We have 2 seasons, summer and about 3 weeks of fall. Also the thermometer isn't the best, works at telling you the temperature of our pockets or hand more than the ambient air temp...

@rickin, please tell me how to get the acid etched or patina, or what every it's called look.
Would love it even more with black Alox scales. Love black on black...

You find the blade, combo tool, and scissors optimal for EDC as well?
And one last question, was your mod an original 84mm Voyageur or did you mod a 84mm Golfer?

Hello.  Good to see a fellow floridian here.

The tools were acid stonewashed.  Really simple to do.  Youtube is loaded with instructional videos.

The mod is actually a 93mm (SwissB Carver), not 84mm.  The nice part about buying carver is all the left over parts and of course the bonus harvester blade.

As for tool loadout, I based it on my favorite tool, the Compact.  I do prefer the combo tool over the can opener.

Thank you all for the kind words.

SwissB Carver? Your like me, expensive taste when modding. :D
When I look at your compact...ish it makes me think. "Those tools were hand forged from the steel of a medieval broadsword." Ha...

That acid dip and stone wash looks scary, any tips as not to destroy any of the tools I love?
How has it effected the scissors and the action of the tool?
Super interested in the process...

Not expensive really because you get extra springs/liners/tools that can be used for more mods.  If I broke it down, the scales would be roughly 20.00.

The acid stonewash has a unique reaction with Vics seel.  Almost feels like a glassy beadblast.

If you are ever down in south florida your welcome to check it out.

The LEGO knife lives!

You may have seen earlier in this thread my first attempt at a LEGO knife mod. You may have also seen that it didn't turn out so well. It was decently made all things considered, but further evaluation led me to the conclusion that it was way over designed. So, it was back to the drawing board. I did some basic trimming and filing on a pair of LEGO pieces and the results, IMHO, came out so much better.

The standard cellidor bushings come within a cat's whisker of anchoring the stock LEGO pieces to the knife, so I was terribly pleased about that. I hadn't even planned for that happy little accident. A minimal bit of epoxy should take care of securing them. Even better was not having to file in notches (a la the Tomo) for access to the nail nicks, so that was great as well. All in all, I'm quite pleased with how the LEGO Mark II turned out.

No.  I use the no hook spring rest from 91mm and cut to shape.

Textured powdercoat.  My family owns a metal finishing operation and I have been lucky enough to throw pieces in during runs.  I waited until they shot this thru their guns.  The grip is incredible.  This is the second pair of scales I've done this way and I simply love it for it's feel/durability.

I imagine the grip on that SAK something like alox-nylon scales (does that make any sense?) and this does sound great to me. The finish looks very nice, the coating seems pretty good. Nice job!
