The active ingredient in Coke in this use is phosphoric acid. Which is used as a rust converter. Rather than just remove the rust it changes it to another chemical compound that prevents more rust. So your LM will actually be less likely to rust in future.
My curiosity has me wondering the effect this would have on a black oxide tool since black oxide is just controlled rust.
Maybe it would help to use something like a old toothbrush to scrub with the cokemthe harder to hit areas!
time to change out the soda for some fresh stuff.

Hrmm... I'll do some research and see if I can find any information on it.If I can't find anything, I might be willing to try it on my Rebar. It's not like it will render the tool useless, and it'll be in the name of SCIENCE!
Nothing fancy to report, apparently a Coca-Cola bath is common for removing black oxide rust that forms on golf clubs. I assume it would be left with a regular satin-ish stainless steel finish.

If it left some weird dingy patina look, I'd go for it but if I wanted a plain stainless Rebar, I'd have bought one.
What no pics ? ... lol Brüder, die Brüdern Helfen
Cap'n, does it still have a factory edge? Has it been used much if any?
Looks like my favorite beverage is a great rust remover.
