HistoryThe Scribe was first available in 2003. It appears to be the identical knife to the earlier Vintage II model, which as a different Victorinox AN, but the SABI number is the same. It appears that as the Escort replaced the Vintage, so did the Scribe replace the Vintage II.
Removable PenVictorinox's first pen was included in the 58mm Signature series of knives. First released in 1993, it replaced the toothpick in the scales. The removable-pen is very short, not more than 50mms, and extremely thin. Its thickness is comparable to the replaceable refill in a standard ballpoint pen. The small diameter and overall minuteness of the pen makes it fairly impractical for extended use. It was discontinued in favor of a new retractable pen design.

also, is there a site that you choose the tools on the knife and get a list of models with those tools? this would help in identifying these knifes for Novices like myself. (it could also help in finding the "perfect" knife as well)
