I think that's the cotton out of a med bottle puller. With the hook
The orange peeler is the one with the small saw like end...

Correct. The Mini Champ does not have the true orange peeler. I'm only aware of it being found on the 74mm Executive.

Correct but on older models it had a plain edge, no serrations :tu:

Also, of course it's also found on Executive-like models (Director, "alox Executive" which had only a model no., etc.)

With all due respect, I don't think you're calling the right thing an "orange peeler."

The Mini Champ has 8 fold out tools. Two are cutting blades--one is the pen blade, the other is the "emergency blade" or wharncliffe blade. I have those two out in the picture comparing it with the Pepcid knife. There is a hook-like tool on the Mini Champ which some might call an orange peeler, although it is actually different from a true orange peeler tool, which I think is only found on the Executive knife model.

 ;)

Well, that was unnecessarily patronising, but I digress:

I mixed up the wharnie label with the hooked blade label from memory, they're next to each other. However:

1) 'some people' are Victorinox. Whilst the intended use of some tools may seem dubious (looking at you cuticle pusher), at the end of the day what the tool is actually called is decided by the manufacturer. *Please see pic below, paperwork from a NIB Minichamp, purchased May 2020.

If you'd prefer another reference to a tool named an 'orange peeler' existing on the Minichamp, here is the Vic page for it, where it's listed as a 'key feature'

https://www.victorinox.com/uk/en/Products/Swiss-Army-Knives/Small-Pocket-Knives/Mini-Champ/p/0.6385

2) Whilst I was labelling the tool with the name of that next to it, the blade from pictures does look like the same wharnie blade, but with a tang stamp. Even down to the proportionate size next to the file. You have both tools, but from your replies just countering what I referred to it as, I'm not sure you actually checked the blades in a comparative fashion.

You said you had those out in the picture, and maybe my Chrome just isn't loading a second picture, but the only picture I see is all of your latest haul together and closed. The only tool open is the cuticle pusher on the minichamp. You then described the difference in the blade and the picture on the SAK wiki just looks like the same blade.

Since the MiniChamp is basically all of the 58mm tools shoved into one chassis, it just sounds like they had tooling for a wharnie blade from some model or other (in this case the Rover?) and then shoved it in sans tang stamp (cost and redundancy I'd imagine).

It's possible that they have changed the tooling slightly, but so slightly that there doesn't appear to be a visual difference both seems a little unlikely and pretty irrelevant tbh. You could look at the knives yourself and tell us if they actually appear any different besides the stamp.

Just to add to GF's post, I've recently bought a brand new Mini Champ and it's definitely an orange peeler according to Victorinox...

I think it'd go without saying that the tool on a 58mm SAK would look slightly different to one on a 74mm SAK for practical and design purposes.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't see that picture having been posted previously in this thread. I went back up to where you originally said you received them twice.

Hard to tell from the picture but again, it just looks like the same blade that's in the mini champ.

Yes, I think you are correct. I believe my brain jumped a cog. I took the picture and thought I posted it, but evidently I had not.

So, yes, the two blades on the MiniChamp are the two possible blades on 58mm knives. The MC has both, most single-blade 58's have the pen blade, and some of the Rovers have the smaller "emergency blade."

Back on April 1st, I was told the peeling tool on the Executive was for Naval Oranges, while the tool on the Minichamp was for Mandarin Oranges only. For all other varieties, the largest knife blade on each is a generic orange peeler.  This person also said that Archon aliens had taught him a folk dance on an exoplanet called Narnock after examining him closely with what looked to him like a Victorinox Cybertool with a Wiha extender mounted with a Torx probe. But don’t quote me on this. 😉
