30/30  :salute: OC+ E for the win!
And another one
And another
And the last one for this thread/challenge.

This challenge was very challenging  :ahhh: for me to only carry and use a 2 layer SAK, in my case the two I had are a Electrician and 111 Picnicker. So I suppose that was the point, to be challenging  :pok:. I have a cool variety of tools that mix and match well together and it's fun pairing them, like a fine wine and food  ::)! With that said, I really like and use every tool on the Electrician and it fits my needs just right - for a SAK. I will continue to use it, as I have prior to this challenge. BUT, I will have to pair it with a Leatherman! I NEED pliers, saw, file, and a philips driver in my day to day.

This challenge was fun (albeit allot harder than the traditional and rebar I did previously). Got allot of great use from my Electrician and it helped me out a ton this month. Now that it's over I will carry my Leatherman plier based multitool and pair it still with either my 2 layer Electrician SAK or my traditional Northwoods Jack depending on if I'm at work or personal edc.

Bonus picture: for day 31/30
Dark side tourist, really love those black nylon scales (although I wouldn't mind not having H&K logo on them)

This challenge was a lot of fun, although most of the SAKs I showed during the challenge are part of the regular EDC rotation (the most challenging part was not having MP400/Micra/Squirt in the bag as backup)

Now that the challenge is over, supertinker, mountaineer, hunstman and ranger will jump in my pocket after a month in their box

Well done everyone.  That was a fun month.

I had the black and red Pioneer on me for the last few days:

But I'm definitely back to normal today:

 :climber: :multi:

I'll work out who's eligible for the badge and ask Whoey to setup the award:

Once jalind has finished his month I'll hold the draw for the Cybertool prize too.

I hope you can all hang on a few days for him to catch up. :salute:

31. Just the basics, plus scissors. The challenge helped me appreciate the Soldier/Standard Issue/Pioneer pattern, and also the Spartan variations, but the lack of scissor layer firepower for the amount of space/weight saved is severely limiting. I did have a couple of Compact days, and while the scissors are excellent, it did give me a renewed disdain for the cheesy combo tool. I found myself swearing at it and fearing a bloodletting while trying to get at my tinned vittles. While I did not injure myself on the combo tool's carnage, or opening plastic bags with the main blade while holding them awkwardly, give me a good old Climber or Pioneer X any day, my kind of minimalism.  :)

Do you need Medical Bill's assistance Twiglet? He can be over to you in a couple of weeks (as long as you can elevate any wounds for that long).

Just spent my lunch break catching up with the photos from the last week and getting the list up to date:

:like: :like: :like: :tu: :tu: :tu: everyone.

Looks llike T14, m47mu74nt, Oxford_Guy, glenfiddich1983, magentus, Fortytwo, shamus, zrxoa1, JasonJ, Kurt Misner, Alan K., kaput and (I assume) jalind are all in with a shot at the Cybertool.

I was able to create the award for the challenge myself so I'll give it to those of you who have finished so far.  Great effort eveyone. :D

Good morning all,
I'll be carrying my black Climber on a dangler next to my Olight aaa today.
In review of the month, I have to admit, there were times when the SAK just didn't cover the need.  I think a Compact may have covered it, though.

Trip to Mother-in-law's:
I took only my Executive on a trip to California and it just wasn't robust enough to cover some simple home maintenance chores.  I needed to fins a dedicated screw driver, and pliers to change out weather stripping on a door, and to add handles to another door.  However, it did handle grooming duties just fine.

Fishing:
I took a short trip to Nebraska and caught four decent sized catfish (3-5 pounds each). Executive again.  It cut some paracord that I attached to a bucket, but would have been very inadequate for filleting the fish.  I had to use a dedicated filet knife.

Miscelaneous:
There were a couple nuts that required pliers.
I couldn't open wine bottles with the Classic,  Executive,  or Wenger. Not a frequent problem for me,  but did drive me to a dedicated cork screw a couple times.

Overall, I found that the Executive and Classics handled the grooming duties great, but did not have the drivers I needed.  When I carried the Waiter, or Wenger Classic 62, I really missed the scissors and file.  That's why I think the Classic would have covered most of it.

I'm considering getting a Pioneer X to complement my daily keychain Classic SD.

Day 27:
(Attempting it ALL single layer!)

In the continuing adventures of the Wenger Evolution 63 . . .

This Wenger Evo version of the Vic Waiter starts the day slicing a bagel. Has the same carnage hazard as using a long knife as it can slice the full edge into your hand if it slips near the end. The technique compared to using a knife longer than bagel diameter is a little different but follows a similar principle. One starts only far enough in that the tip of the blade is sill showing while working around the bagel to get a clean slice partway through all the way around.

Once that's completed, the blade is worked just over halfway through and the bagel is rotated following the initial slice. It will fall in half with a complete 360 rotation (or sooner).

And the day has only just begun for the Wenger Evolution 63!

John
Medical Bill will be pleased to know that no fingers were harmed in the cleaving of this mini-bagel.
(Only three more days to go!)
