I did manage to take a pic today after all.  Black and red Pioneer again.

Ya. Clean background and intriguing angle  :tu:

Great composition and excellent depth of field front to back in a macro (not easy to achieve)! :2tu:

10/30
I taught my daughter how to use the unique orange, er, Cutie orange peeler.

This gets me current for today.  I'm having fun with this!

Part of Mother-in-Law duty is to fix minor issues around the house.  Well,  I forgot to bring big boy tools ,  but did use the Executive to help with replacing the weather stripping on the door to the garage.
The patient:

Pulled off the old stuff that's been there since 1968 using channel lock pliers I found in the garage.
10.1/30:
Using the Exec to cut new stripping:

10.2/30:
Opening the nail package

10.3/30:
I also added some pull handles to the outside door to the garage and had to open the handle packages.

Since I don't have a power drill to drive the screws,  I had to go manual screw driver.  Thought about trying the Executive's nail file,  but came to the realization that it would get twisted trying to sink screws without the assistance of pilot holes.

There is still time left on day 10, Columbus day. Who knows how the Executive will be used.

Litlle less early than yesterday (6am this time)
But let's wake up with the choice: Silver MoneyClip  (I could not carry it for the DISC'D, as it is still produced)

So, day 11 already:

I have that same model.  Sadly, it just sits at home because I never seem to carry cash. I barely ever used it.

Day 07:
(Attempting it ALL single layer!)

Last time I mowed the lawn the grass was significantly taller than it should have been due to a number of rain days in a row. I also lowered the deck a notch to get the grass height back down to where I had kept it last year as it was also growing too fast. The result from a mulching deck and blade was substantial amounts excess grass being spewed out from under the mower deck and it not only got onto the deck, I was certain a significant amount had gotten into the air cleaner.

Briggs & Stratton would have you believe that there is no means to clean a mower air cleaner, it must be replaced. Hogwash. Unless it's wet with water, oil or gasoline, it can be cleaned out to about 90% or more of when it was new. More than sufficient for continued use until it's packed up with dust that won't come out. To remove the air cleaner requires a Phillips and either a 5/16" nut driver (or wrench) or a flat tip screw driver. Who needs a Tinker with an extra layer when an Apprentice has everything required! My Apprentice has sterile black scales without the Vic logo; they were made for customer marking with a company logo or advertising. Couldn't get Vic logo scales for it when I replaced the trashed red ones. They're pure deep India Ink black. First step is removing a small top cover that allows easier access to the air cleaner cover:

Next step was removing the air cleaner cover using the combo tool:

Once the cleaner cover was off with the air cleaner filter, some Crudmium fell out all on its own, but there's still grass and debris in the filter.

Whacking the filter and the cover lightly on the garage floor so as not to damage the filter got nearly all the rest of the debris out. This produced a sizable pile of Crudmium. The filter is still very white. There's no point in replacing it for some time to come as long as I periodically knock the grass and debris out. It will eventually turn brown from dirt fines the consistency of silt and then it's time to be replaced.

Reassembled and ready to mow the lawn later today!

Who needs to pull out a Tinker when the Apprentice can do the job! This is one of the four I fabricated early this year from old economy Waiters with nylon scales in excellent condition, and thrashed Tinkers with mangled blades. Gave two of them to some friends and still have one more besides this one. I need to sharpen its blade (very dull but not chipped or dinged) and replace its nylon scales. The back layer Phillips on a thrashed SAK is invariably the one pristine tool even if everything else is beyond refurbishing or salvage. The Apprentice is a minimalist Tinker.

10, Compact.

:tu: I also have one in black - the thinner one, two and three layer SAKs are beautiful in black! Thinking about converting a Scientist I have to black, and have't yet as its scales are in very excellent condition.

Day 10:

At the office today so swapped to my Bantam, opened some mail with it, but other than that it stayed in my pocket most of the day. It's wearing a new orange Vic lanyard that came through the post recently from Pizzini, along with some different bits for my Cybertool 29 (from the Swisschamp XLT):

(Image removed from quote.)

That slip case is exactly what I've been trying to find for may Alox! Where did you get yours?

Thanks,

John

DAY 11

I switched to a Vic Signature so I could finish the the grocery list. (My Compact lost the pen when I replaced the plus scales with regular ones)

Was custom made for me by another Brit called Geoff Woods who I found out through another (non-SAK) knife forum. Not sure if he posts to the US or not. He also made me a slip for my Rambler and Chris Reeve Small Sebenza 21... If you want more details, PM me.

Day 11/30
Today is my daughter's 13th birthday.  Going into the city for the day.  I took the Executive,  and the Tube off the keychain and moved them to the more inconspicuous Griffin earbud pouch. It's just the right size for this gig,  and holds bandaids, wipes,  and the girls' hair bands.

Day 11:

First use of the day, perfectly removing the paper lid to my cup of beef ramen noodles. It always tears to shreds if you pull it off by hand. The SAK blade works great to lift up the lid from the foam cup. Nice.
