Great carries, y'awl! :like:

Gareth, I think I'd leave that sweet little jack just the way it is. Case's stainless steel blades tend to be a little too polished for my liking.

Not surprisingly I've got the Case Working Jack on me today.  I must admit that I've taken a bit of Brasso wadding to the blades.  In no way does it remove the texture of the grinding, but it has just taken the roughness out.  I'm not certain I know what the synthetic covers are made of, but it's clear they are going to look worn very quickly bouncing around in my pocket with coins etc.

While I do have more penknives these days I do have a few two blade jack knives as well.  Looking at this photo and I think I've worked out why I don't really get along with the RR Barlow.  Pen blade is the "wrong" side and manages cover the nail-nick on the main blade very well.  ::)

I'm also struck by something I read about my new Working jack; that it's very much a peanut that has been going to the gym.  :D

Great carries, and a superb jack collection! I agree about the 087 pattern being a Peanut that hit the gym.

Nice collecting.  The jack knife seems to be my favorite pattern of traditional.

Nice carries, David and Steve!

Today I'm carrying what strikes me as an under-loved pattern: the toothpick or fish knife. This particular one is a Craftsman 9458. I don't know who made it for Sears, but I'm pretty sure its at least 55 years old. How does it carry? Well...at five inches closed, it's a pocket-full! I sure do like it, though.
