A Muskrat for me today. Not vintage, but still a well made knife.

My Dad carried a Muskrat pattern. Only pocket knife I ever seen him carry.

Realized after a long long time he carried this model was for the simple reason he always had a backup knife in the same handle and never had to adjust his grip.  Just flip it around, identical blades have an advantage.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Back with the Wright sheepsfoot today.  I was looking back at the start of this thread (six years ago!  :ahhh) and realised this was the first knife I posted up.

I can see how some people would appreciate that feature.

Personally, I like having different blade options, both for functional reasons and because it helps me keep track of which blades are clean enough for food and cigar use and which probably have adhesive residue or other such gunk on them.

That is so true! For me as well, a blade for my needs and for purpose.

For my Dad, no, could afford one knife for pocket carry and that daily use, what ever required. Cutting paper, opening boxes, a snack bag, gutting a rabbit or a pheasant, cutting a tag off a coat, etc etc.

He would have been 90 years young in September.  A pocket knife for him was a tool to make life easier, an extension of his hand.

For food prep, he did very little,  his mom and his wife (my mom) did all home cooking.
He did AWL cooking in deer camp, most like camp kit or his fix blade, that never was used on a deer, ever!😜
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Giving the RR Barlow another shot today.  Fancied something a bit "chunkier" than my usual want.  Still really bothers me that the clip blade's nail nick is hidden behind the pen blade though.  ::)

Yeah, I might be miffed about the nail nick placement, but I really do like the micarta covers.  :)

Would grinding the stop down on the pen blade help, or would that hide the pen blade nick too?
