Very nice Case, Gareth👍

Steve, why would you desire the CV steel over SS?
I know they usually charge more for CV yet it requires more care than typical Case collectors.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Yesterday arrived a knife I forgot I won on the auction site.   It just made my minimum length close of 3”.

It was listed as a Imperial.  The pictures showed a clean small knife.

It is clean, edge is sharp yet can be improved, covers and fit are very good, and tang stamp reads Imperial Ireland.

Before I start any research, does anyone have any insight, Steve, Gareth…?
For $5.00 I am somewhat surprised as I expected an USA made Imperial, unaware of a Ireland build :hatsoff: :drink:

Very nice LC.  One of my very first knives as a boy was an Imperial Ireland hobo knife.  Yours looks to be in great condition but do keep it dry.  The backspring on mine turns orange at the drop of a hat.

That is interesting! I had noticed the backspring was black, never thought it to be unfinished metal.  The knife has a half stop snd pull is firm, a 7.5 or 8 at minimum.

Also, applying a light inside the knife channel, not a spec of dust or lint, confirming no use in prior life.  And if the backspring is prone to rusting, this will be likely sequestered to storage.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

LC I'll take a "stab" at Imperial Ireland knives.

From what I've read the Ireland factory in Listow Ireland had been producing knives ( not Imperial ) since 1960.  Imperial acquired the factory in 1978.  If I am understanding correctly the parent company of the Listow factory was Jowika Stahwlarenfabrik Eugen Weber & Altenbach KG.  It seems when Imperial took over ( 1978 ) it was named Imperial Stag Ltd.

The factory in Listow produced Imperials from 78?? 88?? to its closing in 2004 which coincides with Imperial/Schrade ultimate end.

Aloha, thank you for the insight shared and the two links.  The story sharing the shock of employees and town was so, so unbelievable as the signs were already present, history said we are in trouble, not no they can’t close down.

The video was interesting, not much work taking place!  Must of cleaned everything down for the tour and cake and cookies.

Between work, household stuff and minor health issues, I really have struggled to make frequent posts.  For example, today and tomorrow I am doing the tile backsplash in our kitchen. This required cutting the webbing that held un-needed pieces. The wife and I tag-teamed the project today. I did the measuring/cutting, and she applied the adhesive and tile while I cut the next piece. Soon she asked if she could borrow "my" knife,, and of course I obliged. Later she asked to use it again. Next thing I knew, she was asking where "her" knife was and accused me of taking it. On that, I went and grabbed another knife for myself. When we were done for the day I tracked down "her" knife and found it caked with dried adhesive. Luckily it all scraped right off. I sure love that woman! I am also really fond of these winterbottom bone, Queen stockman's.

I love “where’s my knife” comment!  GA1dad.

My wife said similar regarding my WAVE mt. Forgot it in purse for flight and it became a TSA knife, and she was mad as a hornet!

Tiny RR Peanut for me today.  I forget just how good a wee knife this is.  No half-stops on the blades, but they both have a really nicely weighted pull.
