Britain has a rather large problem from what I've read. Don't know about other European countries.
Here I'm yet to hear of a single case. But then again maybe it's because it would read something along the lines of "Smurf dressed as clown severely beaten by old woman"

I haven't seen any personally, I've only seen stories about them on the news. If one of the idiots jumps out on me they are likely to get slapped with my walking stick. Maybe it would knock a bit of sense into them

On a more serious note, I have yet to see anyone dressed as a clown in my city.  If one was to attempt to approach me, especially after dark, they would receive a warning to back off.  If they don't, well, like anyone else, they are fair game.

Must have been a recent incident. Just heard about this in the radio this morning.

A few years ago (about the time when the Batman movie came out?...), in Portugal, there were some stories of attacks by groups of delinquents, asking people what they'd prefer: death, rape or clown-face. When choosing the last, they would cut your mouth like the Joker. It was just an urban myth, according to the police, but for awhile people kept talking about it.

After not hearing about any where I live, my niece called last night to tell me about an incident with 3 scum dressed as clowns that have attacked a carer she works with. Her boss had called all the other carers to let them know it had happened.

My niece is a carer who goes to old peoples homes to care for them, her and the others she works with travel all over our town throughout the day and late evening. Last night while leaving an old ladies house one of the other carers got jumped by 3 people dressed as clowns. She is now in hospital after getting punched and kicked by them.

So far nothing in the local press about it.

I'm thankful my niece wasn't there as she is 5 months pregnant. I hope the other carer isn't too badly injured and makes a fast recovery, and that the scum get their just desserts.

There's a corn maze near the city I used to live in and they started doing horror nights where you do the maze and people dressed up as all sorts of things jump out and scare you (one with a chainsaw). Problem is, people would get so startled they would punch them and apparently this was quite a problem. Most of the 'scarers' were students trying to earn their rent money.

One thing I dont understand is why do these clowns seem to appear mostly in the eastern US states :think:
