What Happened in Ft. Lauderdale.

I don't want to open anything long ended on what happened at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport yesterday but thoughts go out to all involved. Scary stuff  :-[

Smurf it, I've tried to write a reply this without it being political and I can't. A terrible tragedy

From my perspective in Australia it is hard to comprehend just how often things like this happen in the US.  So sad for so many people

A grave tragedy indeed. Beyond that I refrain from commenting here to avoid potentially being misunderstood or starting a discussion that's unhelpful.

I'm not sure how much I can say without getting myself in trouble too, but this is truly messed up.

My serious condolences to those who have lost loved ones.

Condolences to the families.  The shooter needed help.  He needed mental health care and emotional support, and if he had received care and support months ago (when he was detained and evaluated for only 4 days and then released) this might not have happened.

Bingo! and that is what G'ments fail to do with alarming regularity.

I'm a former serviceman, I had ZERO support from my country, I had to spend my own money to work out why things were not working with me.

I know this is political but smurf it, it's not about terrorism, gun control or anything else other than the lack of thought for the men and women that are sent off to fight.

All of which I salute  :salute:

I remember meeting several ex-army, homeless people in the UK. Those that did not get an education whilst in the army, or became officers, were left with few choices when they left the army. Usually alcohol was one of these choices.

Last week here in Canada a retired serviceman who was unable to get help killed his family and then himself.

Governments all over the world need to pay closer attention to the care (or lack thereof) they offer to servicemen and women.

Not enough is being done for mental illness in general, not just for veterans, but yes, especially for veterans.
