Question about Skipper tool placement
on: August 07, 2017, 03:32:34 AM
I recently got my hands on a Vic Skipper and noticed that, when closed, the pliers actually rest on top of the inline Phillips.  Is this seen on any other tools? This is my only 111mm with these tools so I have nothing to compare to.  It just struck me as odd.  I'm not a huge collector but aside from the straight pin I can't think of any other SAK tools that require moving another tool out of the way to access them.

Hi, Jaya_man
I appeal to your wisdom.  Do you (or anyone) know(s) when the inline Phillips was first added in 111mm???
I do have an outrider without it.

Thank you

+1 Good question. This one also has scissors screw pivot, so maybe the same time as the rivet showed up? For the 91mm that would put it in the early 90's, when the hook was added too?

I used to think this Outrider was uncommon, now I see them everywhere.

Ah good question. I don't know exactly when the long inline phillips was added to the scissors layer...

Hopefully others might be able to help.

That would be the 2017 LE Outrider Damascus... Yes it doesn't have the wood saw...

Question about Skipper tool placement
Reply #10 on: August 08, 2017, 09:58:06 AM
That's correct... All of them are with their tools opened to see the differences. LE Damascus 2017 doesn't have either saw nor corkscrew, the one in the middle is regular slide lock outrider. The green one is slide lock but has no inline Phillips.

Thank you Jaya_man for your answer. Appreciate it

Everywhere... I've only seen two of them .... Yours and mine. :-)
I will keep on thinking it's uncommon

Daark says his father has one, so yeah, not everywhere but they do pop up.

I'm going back to thinking it's uncommon too.
