Day 14

Bruce must be getting sick of hanging out in my messy shed. Going to take a lot of work to get it organised.
Lansky puck for Fuzzy reference.
I managed to install some new LED lights to replace the old fluorescent ones, but I need another one over my bench, I reckon. Might rig one of the fluoros to try for starters

Fuzzaxe Day 14

Front...

Back...

As you can see Fuzzaxe has next to no poll, despite this shortcoming he is immensely good at smacking things and makes a very good hammer - I was able to knock apart those window frames with little or no bother and with no need for additional tools.

Also there's something, for me anyway, extremely satisfying about belting things with the back of an axe. So, with that in mind, I invite you all to... show us your polls!  :ahhh

I'm not exactly sure. Somewhere between 700 and 800mm.
I just left it as long as it was to try it out. The factory handle is 450mm

day 14: this challenge just got to the hard part, my classes started

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Day: 14 (unofficial photo)

I cheated today......

While I was at the gun range today, my earplugs broke, leaving the green baffles inside my ear canal. (Not seen in the picture, there are usually two ends to these earplugs: a green full silence end and a yellow end that lets some noise in. When I tried to pull these plugs out, BOTH of the yellow ends came off, leaving the green bits stuck in me ear canals!)

Back in the truck, I couldn't figure out how to use Lyndax to remove just the earplugs, so I resorted to using a Leatherman ST300 to reach into my ears and remove the plugs. This is an unanticipated shortcoming of the axe. Live and learn, I suppose.......

I think that poll, or rather using it to smack things, might be a tad redundant due to the dirty big lump hammer it's resting on...

Nice one though!

Well spotted, Fuzzy.

And I'm always leery of whacking things with an axe's poll. Not all are able to take the impact. And if the poll is able, the cheeks may not be.  I'll use a poll to drive a tent stake, but that's pretty much it.

I think most axes with mushroomed polls were hit with sledge hammers while splitting wood.

Decided to save the left over roast for tomorrow and do breakfast for dinner.

Since I didnt do much here is the newest Townsed vid going over the tools he used in cabin including a bunch of axes
I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.
But for now I'm just a lost jack of trades with neither mastery nor home. ~NoaIsumi
