I sadly do not have time to read thru 109 pages of posts concerning the Victorinox climber. I am looking for a 30 day challenge for the climber. Also which thread is best to discuss the climber in general?  I hope to get some suggestions or links to the best posts from the past about climbers. Thanks all.

 :iagree:

The Climber or a close cousin (e.g. Mountaineer = Climber + metal file/saw) has been part of my EDC for many years, and I use all the tools on it.  For general/all-around utility, I don't believe it can be beaten by anything in its size range.

It's a Spartan with scissors.

That's pretty much all there is to say about it!

If there is anything specific you'd like to know I'm sure those with lots of carry time would be happy to talk about.

It's a Spartan with scissors and, since 1991, the hook.

That's pretty much all there is to say about it!

To Summarize: It's just a Spartan.
With scissors.
And a hook.

And it is a three layer model, not the slim two layer as a Spartan.

To me, the Climber is a good, practical Swiss knife.

To me it's my first SAK plus a keyring and a hook these days...

When I was a young person I thought the Victorinox knives that had the most features were the best. When I reached my 50's I realized more is not always better. So the model that makes the most sense to me now is the climber. I am planning to read thru the Climber Club posts tonight.

I really like some of the features Wengers-now Delmonts. When Wenger was still a seperate company in my experience their blades were sharper and held there edge a bit better. Those big tool rich 10 layar knives were the original survival style tools. Much too large for the pocket but fine with a sheath.  :iagree:
