It's  8° F and sunny, that's a good day in Minnesota for January  ;)

Having grown up in Upstate NY, understand.  But now I prefer shorts and sandals year round.  It was bad enough when it dipped below 40F yesterday and I had to wear socks with my sandals.

:tu:  it sure would, i would like a fully serrated lightweight as a second blade and that would have been perfect

I’ve been thinking the same thing.

Seeing Days 16 and 19, I’m getting all confused, but it is for me

Day 18

Ranger had a busy day - opening a bottle of vitamins, removing tags from some new lounge clothes, and opening the mail which included some nice swag.

Day 18

Use the new Slim 112 to cut open a pack of Eneloop, I am a big fan of this rechargeable, really high quality and best of all, can keep the charge for longer time.

(Image removed from quote.)

Gonna have to swap over to those. My LED Lenser PX6 absolutely devours AAs, since I only use it on high (which is only like 2 hrs). Plus, Olight says that my i3EOS gets more runtime on Eneloops compared to alkaline.

Day 18 - Long day today, escorted younger grandson to his Y Swim meet which lasts all day while his mom was at older brothers conference meet. No need for my 112 there at all :(

The at home took Mrs LC our for dinner and now at home relaxing with a copy of magazine I need to review...
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Oh boy, so a new blade then. Wonder what the cost would be?

According to the Buck site, $10. Plus UPS or USPS shipping, which ain't cheap for UPS particularly, as honestly, I don't like dealing with one particular post office (actually, more or less the destination hub for several towns around here) around here when it comes to knives. Because the one for my town is located just across the street from a cutlery store who also as a website they sell through, I seem to have no trouble at all with them no matter what the knife (a couple of Leathermans, and two tactical Gerbers; an MP600 AR sight tool, and an EZ OUT), but the post office I mentioned threw a fit over three SAKs (84mm, 93mm, SwissTool).  At least unlike Emerson (who charges $100!) Buck doesn't ask as much as a new knife just to have a blade put in, no matter what the model or steel.

Good luck with that, I am sure this knife is probably filled with good memories, and let's hope the cost is not too high and you get to keep the handle.  :tu:

This one I bought secondhand, thinking the blade only needed a sharpening. Turns out, I was wrong and have a trainwreck on my hands that only Buck can fix.  Buck says they'll polish up the handles and bolsters while they're working on it.  Wood is a little bit chewed up, however. But, my 110 isn't much nicer, and it was my great-uncle's work knife. It's got some grinding damage, but not as much blade wear. That one is staying as-is due to sentimental value. I try to not carry it as much (with a total of 3 110s in my possession, soon to be four), but the 440C steel is what keeps it in my pocket (or belt--this thing's heavy!). Plus, Buck 440C seems tougher than what the Italians use and does not chip.  Luckily, at $15 for knife ($20? counting the shipping--I've had the knife 3 years!) plus $10 for blade and whatever USPS or UPS shipping will be, I still have a little less in it together than I would if I went to the knife store and picked up a new 112 (and if I did, it would be a finger grooved model). Sure wish Buck would have finger-grooved 112LT, as they did the Bucklite in the '80s.

Day 18.

The 110 in 440C ('74-80) was really the knife that started it for me in terms of Bucks, and was among the first larger knives I had. I already owned a 301 advertising a local quarry, but I refused to carry it (it is in new condition). My great-uncle bought it new, and used it as a work knife for many years.  I inherited it in early 2015, and really came to love it as a larger folder for just about everything. While I have bought two since (a 2016 in 420HC, and a 112LT in CPM-154) it sees second use to the CPM-154 one. The 440C outlasts the 420HC by double.

Buck does offer partially serrated blades in the custom shop for the 110, but I don't know if they offer them for the 112 or not. But, I'd really like to see Buck drop a 110 partially serrated blade in an LT 110 frame and see how it would sell. A ton of folders have PE, SE, and partially serrated options on the same knife.

Back to my flashaholic days, rechargeable were great for incans because it allows high amperage draw, but keeping taps on literally dozen of rechargeable was a real pain in the ass(since it deplete on itself pretty fast), and that's when we first start seeing Eneloop comes onto the market, which was a God send.

That's an interesting data point, I don't think I own the same knives in different steel and use them enough side-by-side to generate that kind of data.  :tu:
