Day 1

I think it is only fitting to start this challenge off with my first knife.  When I was 8yo, I went to Girl Scout camp.  The list of items to bring included a pocket knife, so my Dad loaned me his Army camp knife to take.  After I returned home when I went to give my Dad back his knife, he asked my about camp and what I learned as far as knife handling.  After I told him, he gave me my own knife, a Utica Girl Scout camp knife.  That knife spent a lot of time in my pocket and started me on my love of knives.  It doesn’t see much pocket time now, but it will always have a special place.

(Image removed from quote.)

I was just reading a thread about whether more expensive knife will bring more joy to a user, but there is something in this world that you can't attach a nominal value to it, and this lovely green knife is just one of them.  Thank you for sharing this, story like this always put a smile on me.

:woohoo:

Great start Comis  :like: :like:

Day 01
I don't have much 'folders' or any special collection of such so will have to include my MT's as well and hope to reach 30 days at the end  :P

I'll start off with the one that I own the longest.
A 80s Victorinox Gardener that was not used much for actual gardening but a general utility knife  :D
The tip broke off at some point so I reshaped it to a more pronounced sheep-foot style.
This is often the knife I reach to first in my tool box ...
IIRC, wasn't a gardnerer a sheepfoot to begin with?  Making it shorter don't make it anymore sheep-foot, you know... :pok: :D

Are you watching me in my house??! :sa:
Creep...

Anyway, I did just that...

Day 1:

testing something new
My only knife I have like this, sprayed with some soap spray, manual settings on the camera, taken through the lens of polarized shades.

Nice reprofile.

If you start running low on blades, you probably could through in some kitchen knives, or you could always purchase a couple new ones.

Day 1
Cracking on with my number 1 knife for starters.
I love it because it has no back tools that dig in my hand , is built like the proverbial brick outhouse and the awl is a modern day marvel at deburring and drilling
Behold , the Pioneer !
(Complete with majestic scenery of my homeland )

Nice knife, but even better view.

Day 1

I was just wondering what two knives to pair on which day, just as Steve kindly proposed, but then I tell myself screw that...all gloves are off, I gonna start with a bang of four!

Thanks to the earlier Ranger Challenge, it totally reignite my infatuation with clip point knives and brought back good memories from my youth.

 Nice assortment of Bucks,

DAY 1

Morning everyone. The big day has arrived and there’s already some amazing photos

I’ll kick off with two Ka-Bars. I’ve been into Ka-Bars for around 8 years now , ever since I watched HBO mini series The Pacific and googled the knife it was a slippery slope   Since then the Pacific theatre and the history of the USMC has become a bit of a hobby. More to come later in the month  ;)

So The top one is a modern USMC marked Ka-Bar and the bottom one is a WW2 USN MkII  which is guard marked. It is in the correct early sheath which bears the owners name which I’ve done a little research on.

This is an interesting offering from Fallkniven, for the really thick stock it used but still remain somewhat lightweight.

I got hooked on Ka-bar knives sometime after the fixie challenge last year, definitely one of the most iconic in military knives history.  I also quite like the Pacific made by HBO, but it always reminded me how gruesome was that part of the war.

Spyderco Centofante 3, a thin and lightweight folder.
I removed the pocket clip because I prefer sheath carry.

Nice Spydie!  I think lightweight is the new trend in knife industry, and where's Barry?

I just saw a youtube video about this knife and apparently the reviewer said a youngman in Canada fended off a grizzly bear with this knife sometime last year.  :o   Just to show us how useful is a knife can be, when you least expect it.

This is pretty cool, I don't hunt myself so I wouldn't know, but always curious how well does a trailing point work vs a nessmuk style knife?
