Variety

We're a simple people and we like to keep things fairly easy to understand. So, we've ditched the 4-season approach for a binary system.

Winter is followed by alternating weeks of Summer and Winter.  Summer shows up for full-time work by June....end of June.  Somewhere in September we revert to alternating weeks of Winter and Summer. Then one day....maybe October....you realize that there haven't been any Summer weeks for a while. That's how we know it's Winter again. That and 12" of snow in the yard.

This week is a Winter week. Snow last nigt and probably again today/tonight. Maybe a touch of snow over the weekend. Quite possibly Summer next week.  :dunno:

Day 17

Post duty for the Spirit, chisel on the tape of the parcel (a brush to clean detritus out of my air rifle action), and the butter knife on an envelope.

Day 17

Rizio's post from the other day reminded me that I wanted to buy a Vic pocket sharpener for a while now, here it is, it arrived today. The Spirit did a nice job cutting the plastic.

Yep, I already tried it on a couple of SAK's and other folders and I quite like it. I prefer a slightly rougher edge and this ceramic rod gives exactly that.

 :hatsoff:  Day 17 -
The Ys in my area have decided to finally close during the virus outbreak as a caution to protect members and staff.

Undertaking several maintenance projects including pool and spa closures, including draining and tile surface repair.

Also, able to continue the locker repairs without interruptions.

Butterblade easily sliced open bag of hooks.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Swiss Fuzz Day 17

Used the saw again today. You’re know it really is quite marvellous, it cuts very efficiently on the push... which is nice...

I thought I might try a favored MT test of mine and see if the Swiss Tool could open a coconut.  It could not.  These coconuts are old and have become quite hard. I could barely get the blade to penetrate the husk.  To be fair, at this point I don't think any of the MTs I have previously used for this task would have worked either.  I do have a fresh crop of coconuts in the tree and as soon as any of them falls I will try again.

March 18 (bonus material):

I really like steel cut oats. Rolled oats are great, but steel cut have a bit more 'chew'. However, I find that it's best to soak them overnight so that they are easier to cook for breakfast. While this may seem a bit of a bother, it beats missing breakfast.....and the results are worth it!  :tu:

Used the large driver to pry the lid off the tin:

The awl was employed to cut the tin seal out of the mouth of the tin (this was a brand new tin):

1 cup of oats soaking in 2 cups cold water now. I'm excited for breakfast already!   :ahhh

Could you use the MT to fashion another tools that could open the coconuts?

Yes. I could have used the file to sharpen an axe, hatchet, or machete that would have then opened the coconuts, as I have many times in the past. It's just that I keep remembering the scene in Castaway when Tom Hanks was struggling to get a coconut open and he says, "What I wouldn't give for a Swiss Army knife right now." So, I open coconuts with all of my multitools so I'll know which one I should have on me when I get stranded somewhere. ;)

Day 17
Fisher’s flirt pole experienced a failure today with the toy ripping and and end cap having a crack.  Fortunately I had a spare cap, so the Spirit was able to help fix while also making a improvements.

The worked perfectly for drilling a hole in the cap, noticed the end of the pole was a little rough so used the file to smooth it, then used the scissors to cut a new paracord piece.  This time put a Nite Ize tie at the end, so the toy can easily be changed.

It was all Fisher could take waiting for me to fix it, so the picture was too much to ask which is why it is so blurry but you can still see the Spirit.

Nothing happened much today, except trying to keep the little guy's chubby hand off of my Swisstool.  Just don't want his drool lubricating my tool. :D

 Don't encourage him...it's weird he like all the shiny toys on mine instead of his baby toys.  He insists to inspect my tools are properly displayed every morning and will make grumpy noise if something is misplaced.    :D

That's a tough challenge, I wonder will making consecutive holes with an awl be more productive to help opening it?

Swiss Fuzz Day 18

There's thousands... no... millions of snowdrops here in the old garden, but for some reason this one is determined to be alone.

No uses for the Swisstool today.
