That I do!

Here's my toy, an 05 TJ Rubicon.  This was just after I painted it.  If you're ever incredibly bored, here's my build thread: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/my-05-rubi-build-and-picture-thread.1022/

Just got back home from the shops to get some white spirit
and whilst I was there I picked up another paint brush
I didn’t really need it for painting the platform but I thought why not  :D

Man that is one sexy looking TJ!

I love that desert color too

And I’m not sure who came up with the spelling “Schnapps” ....we spell it “snaps” in Danish at least ...I think it’s spelled “snaps” in Dutch and German as well (maybe speedy can confirm that?)

Just for the same of it, I tested out the 1/4” air ratchet this morning (just running some screws into some wood).

It seems to work well, it’s not fast in anyway (I don’t think any of these are) but it has decent enough power (Rated at 40 Nm).

What surprised me the most is that it doesn’t seem to use half as much air as my 1/2” air ratchet.

This 1/4” can run at full power for like 10 seconds before the pump goes off, where as the 1/2” can only run for a few seconds before it goes off.

And yes; as we have previously discussed; I am fully aware my 25L 1.5 HP air compressor is way too small to run air tools optimally.

The 1/2” is also rated at 80 Nm so many that has something to do with it?

Either way; a positive surprise with the 1/4”

I guess in some ways it can be compared to this thing my grand father gave to me.

I guess it’s called an electric screwdriver?

The air ratchet certainly has more torque than this electric screwdriver, but they both turn around the same speed.

I only really use the electric screwdriver for interior work, where it has actually proven itself quite handy, and is has less fatigue on my hands / wrist as well.

It seem to be inferior in pretty much everywhere else I have used it, except for putting together ikea furniture (but only in tight spaces) otherwise my 18v DEWALT Drill supersedes in every way (not that should came as a surprise anyway).

Likewise; I don’t expect these air ratchets to replace any of my manual ratchets / my impact gun or any of my electric tools. But I can see the air ratchet come in handy when doing engine, brake or suspension work (where I will be working in tight spaces) and it will have less fatigue on my hands / wrists too.

I will possibly try out an electric ratchet at some point in the future too.

Not the stupidly expensive Milwaukee M12 that all the YouTube car shows praise like its gods gift to man kind.

I will just find a cheap one on like AliExpress or eBay, just to test one out and see if it’s even a thing for me.

But that will be maybe next year or so, after I have tested these air tools out more and gotten better experience with them.

Otherwise it’s not really going to be a viable comparison.

I can see not having to drag an airline around with you could be a benefit with the electric ratchet over an air ratchet, but apart from that at least on paper the air ratchets are superior to the electric ratchet in every way.

Also I can’t get my head around the plastic body of the electric ratchet, plastic is usually not a good idea for something that will see a lot of torquing and flexing

But that’s all theories, no way of confirming / concluding anything before they have both been properly tested out.

I have a battery operated torque drill and they
are very powerful depending on what one you get
I have had a 18v one but I wasn’t impressed with it
Now I have a 24v one and the power is a lot better  :tu:

A bit of a ghettofabulous repair / solution, but I feel a lot safer with it this way, and that is the main thing.

Since there’s supposed to be a plastic shield going over the fan (which is missing from my Jeep for some reason) and the hose for the coolant reservoir was just zip tied in place right in front of the fan.

I used the upper radiator mount bolts to secure the hose using some HD wire holders.

The hose is a lot more secure now, and is moved on top of the radiator, instead of the fan side.

I think this is a better solution, but I am no engineer.

Either way, the hose is now moved away from the fan, and not a few centimeters directly in front of it.......again; it’s not going to win any car show prices ...and is arguably not the correct way to do it...but I feel safer driving with the hose securely mounted away from the radiator, and that is the main thing.

Let the hate begin!
