It was a pleasant surprise to see him performing in that role and movie so well :tu:

Something different than Top Secret or Hot Shots.

Cheers Echo
The Squire is a 5th pocket gem, I love it  :tu:

Buck messed this one up a bit though.

- The lock spring top end is rolling on the blade tang in closed position, so it's possible to pull up the balde to expose it's tip slightly and to stay like that. I have an idea for a solution but will leave it as is. It doesn't cause any problems for me.

- The blade tang pin stands out on one side exposing a sharp edge. I polished the sharp edge smooth.

- The blade had a nice and even grind, but it couldn't cut paper cleanly. Out came the Lansky  ::)

- The lock spring is not even with the scales in any sense when closed.

Do I like this Buck Squire anyways? Yes!
Would I buy it again? Probably not if I cannot easily return it, like this one bought overseas.

This old Squire has seen a lot of pocket time. It was my EDC--often paired with a Classic or Rambler--for years. I found it to be a pretty ideal EDC for urban/office carry. Nobody is ever bother by the sight of this knife being pulled out to cut the seal on box of doughnuts, sharpen a pencil, or clip a loose thread. And it does that sort of stuff well. It would probably make a great little backpacking knife, too. I've never used it to dress a trout or rabbit, but as I type, I'm wondering why not.....

I don't think it had any of the problems that McStitchy has noted, but I do know that at some point I decided the edge needed some major work and I spent an afternoon putting a polished edge with some better cutting geometry on it. I'm not sure if it needed that work because I had been lazy about my sharpening before, the factory edge wasn't that great to start with, or just with use and wear it need some more serious attention. Probably a combination of all of those factors.

I really like this knife now. It is scratched up, a little tarnished, a bit worn. But it feels buttery smooth, locks up tight, and disappears in a pocket. I got a second Squire from the custom shop, and it is very nice, but this off-the-shelf one is the one I carry most often.

Very nice Jack  :tu:
I did carry and use my Squire for 4 days straight until I wanted to change things up a bit for the weekend.
Well, I'm missing it already  :D

Funny enough I did read a bad review on the sellers website and also found a bad review on Youtube mentioning the same issues with the pin and blade not staying fully closed.
There might have been a problem on this special order for DLT on some.

Unfortunately Bucks Custom shop doesn't ship to Ireland so cannot use that option  :-\

I want to add here that this is my 5th Buck knife now and the only one that showed some QA problems. They produce excellent quality knifes  :hatsoff:

Here's one you probably never heard of. It's a model 344 and it was part of a two knife combo pack from Canadian Tire. I think that it was a "dealer exclusive", which is kind of funny since they were pretty cheap (on close-out of $25 CAD). Even though it's made off-shore, it's actually not too bad for a cheap knife.

Love Buck knives, some of my first folding knives were knock-offs of the 110. Back then I didn't really know of the real deal, I liked the design but wished they were higher quality. When I first found the knife forums and learned a thing or two I decided I want a Buck 110. Easier said than done, back then they weren't widely available in our corner of the world. So I got a 112 from a local forum's "for sale" posts. Few months later an 110 came up so I snatched it too. Then I started buying them from abroad, some even imported from The States. Here is a family photo, excuse the poor quality - low light + cell phone..
