Thank you ! Far from done with that particular section of my collection because I seem to like most of the stuff Buck makes. Next one probably will be a 55  :)

Now that's a cracker!

Always loved the look of Buck fixies with the shiny pommel contrasting the handle, now I know fancy ones exist you've deepened the hole before I've even fallen in, wicked man

Thanks, Echo.

Buck does some really nice knives. When I was a wee lad, I just wanted one (1) Buck, a 110. That's it.

Well.....things don't aways go to plan.....

Nice  :tu Does the micarta change the balance much compared to phenolic?

Hard to answer in meaningful way.

My brass and phenolic is quite handle heavy. And just heavy in general. (In a nice solid way.)
The new micarta version is much lighter and the balance is decidedly closer to the guard, although still a centimeter back from the guard.
I don't have a stock phenolic / aluminum 105, so I don't know how it compares to that.

In some ways I prefer the solid feel of the phenolic / brass, but the micarta / aluminum makes more sense for a field knife as far as not carrying extra weight around. So far I'm quite pleased wi the new configuration.   :tu:

Thanks for the reply. It was the phenolic and aluminium I was looking for a reference for.

Bucks and Barbour

I decided to re-wax my Barbour jacket today as it’s nice and warm here and ideal temperature to do it. I doubt I’ll wear it again now until the autumn as it’s quite a thick coat so it’s good to get it done then hang it up in the wardrobe so it’s all ready. The process include putting the tin of wax into hot water to melt it then sponging it on all over the jacket paying special attention to the seems and hard wear areas like elbows and pockets etc. It’s a little messy but the secret is when you’ve finished applying the wax is to use a hair dryer to blend it all in.

I’ve always associated Buck knives with my Barbour jacket mainly because the two go so well together when I go fishing etc. I also recently got a custom made Hank with pheasants on which I think pairs really nicely with my 110. Pheasants are another love of mine and while I don’t participate in shooting I do really enjoy dressing pheasant and preparing them with my Buck knives. I’m pretty lucky as I have a contact who supplies me with them during the season although I didn’t get very many last season due to Covid restriction effecting shooting.

My dad was a great one for dressing pheasants, like you he didn’t hunt them but got them from a neighbour. This was in the Cotswolds (UK).
Used to hang them in the garage for 30 days so nice and gamey, the smell when he dressed them still haunts me to this day :ahhh

I’m not sure I’d be able to touch it after 30 days  :o I bet they had a really strong taste. I usually let mine hang for 3 days

It’s a Buck Budgie 417 , S35vn  blade and natural G10 handle scale. It’s really small and compact but makes a great little edc or back up blade

You all have really raised the bar with your new Buck knives.

Congrats to all the new owners.

This is an older 110 with Stag handles and a Damascus blade.

I did the first photo in B/W just try something different. The second photo is the same 110 in its natural state.
