My FX is here  :mail:

(Image removed from quote.)

And it really is a Huntsman on steroids. I was afraid that it would be too heavy, considering that I don't like the PX, but it is great. I can't explain it either. The PX is too heavy and I don`t like it, but the heavier FX is fine  Logic 0 : FX 1.

It has already kicked the Huntsman out of the pocket and been put to work  :tu:
Glad you like it, nice edge beveler :tu:

I like the shape.
That’s why I was kinda curious about it, but I think it only a Velcro close, and you know how Velcro looses its thing over time, and there would be no way to put a snap on without loosing that “victorinox” and shield another reason I like it,,

The only information I found was on the Australian website: https://victorinox.com.au/swiss-army-knives/leather-belt-pouch-4-0533/

Seems to be for 91mm and 2-4 layers.

You gotta love the Farmer X tool set. I used it today to fix a garage door motor.

One of the light bulbs in there went out today, so I opened up the cover to see what was going on. The large screwdriver helped pry that cover open.

Of course it is over a decade old, the plastic is brittle and one of the closure latches snapped off. So I used the wood saw to remove the rest of that plastic latch. After that I used the awl to make two holes in order to hold it closed with a zip tie.

Replaced the light bulb, fastened the cover with a zip tie and used the scissors to cut the overhang.

Maybe not pretty, but I don't have to replace the whole motor because of a loose cover (the motor is too old, they don't make spare parts anymore), and that is a win in my book. :tu:

Actual use stories are by far my favourite thing here.

Hopefully the March Farmer X Challenge thread will be full of them.

I, for one, plan to do absolutely ridiculous things with mine, like using nothing but the Fx to make and eat an entire meal, or ink an entire comic strip. Otherwise I'm just asking people to watch me do my normal daily boring stuff, and how often do people really need to see pictures of me tightening screws and cutting my toenails?

I've been thinking about why, even though it is heavier and I haven't had a lot of use for the saw, the Farmer X seems to find its way into my pocket more than the Pioneer X.  I think it comes down to several things, in no particular order:
  • For hiking and camping, I like having the saw available, even though I probably won't use it outside of an emergency scenario.
  • Having the saw layer between the opener layer and the scissors actually makes the nail nick on the scissors easier to access than having the scissors right next to the opener layer.
  • The extra thickness of the Farmer X makes it a bit more comfortable in my larger-than-average hands.
